Old question but I need your help.
OK - I know we've been through this before, but what is everyone's view on carbonation. I really need some Diet Coke. I never even liked it before surgery but I tasted it (just a tiny taste, I swear and now I'm dreaming about it.
My surgeon told me he would rather I not have any for 1 year but I'd like to know what you have heard and think.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Tandi

Shake the bottle, unscrew the cap and let some of the fizz out. No biggie. I've lost my taste for it thankfully, but if you want it, have some! The bubbles can feel bad in the pouch, and it takes longer to settle down and go through. Use it as a treat, not a liquid requirement. One of the first things I tried early in my healing was a diet root beer float with sugar free ice cream in it. :-x It was good once the bubbles subsided.
I haven't had a Diet Pepsi (Or Diet Lime Coke, my old fave!!) in six months! But, I drink coffee like a fish. :-x

I've never been big on soda, but there are days...especially hot days...I would kill for a sprite. I took a sip of my son's on accident once. Ouch...it hurt my pouch. so I haven't been tempted to try it again.
I have had champagne (Have I got my prorities straight or what). but I let the fizz fizzle out in my mouth before swallowing. It wasn't bad at all.
My feeling is if you can avoid pouch stretching carbonation at this stage of the game, you are better off, but everyone has gotta do what they gotta do!
Good luck!

I had two light beers when I went out of town. I poured them in a glass and tried to let the fizz settle down before I drank them and drank them very slowly. They were very yummy. I still lost a pound that week. It will be a very rare treat for me, but I do like to drin****asionally and this was the only thing I found that didn't make me nausous.
