What is a typical day of food like for you? I need a food check so I want to know what others are eating. Me? A typical day would be: B - protein drink or toast with peanut butter L - tunafish 4 oz. S - banana D - 2-3 oz. grilled chicken breast, veggie maybe another protein drink depending on how much protein I got in that day. Ronda

oh boy, here goes my confession... I struggle with protein, ALL protein, so this is going to be bad.. these are things i've had lately, i certainly don't eat all of this in a day B - ice coffee, sometimes 1/4 of a scrambeled egg & cheese burrito, cereal L - yogurt, protein drink, salad, squash, applesauce (alot of times i dont even eat lunch at all) D - 1/2 turkey and cheese sandwich usually ends up being a cheese sandwich once i pull it apart or small greek salad, 1 piece of a small cheese pizza (lean cuisine frozen), Chili from wendy's with cheese on it, baked potato snacks: wheat thins, chips, string cheese, popcorn, protein bars (cut up, i can never eat all at once so i cut in pieces and munch them as snack throughout the day) well i guess it's not THAT bad, minus my new chips addiction... oh and i've realized that i don't dump anymore.. bad news really but i try hard to stay away from sugary snacks like chocolate and stuff. so far i'm down 72 lbs since surgery and i'm 40.5 pounds away from my original goal. so more than halfway there... personally i KNOW i need to pick up the exercise pace, ok, truth, i need to START exercising!!! i just hate it so much i keep saying "this week, this is the week" and already it's friday... can't wait to read what others post about what they eat, always gives me a few good ideas!! ~Kim

This is what I've been eating lately: B - A couple ounces of cheese and 4-5 low fat triscuits L - Turkey/ham wrap w/cheese & lettuce (about 1/2 of one) D - chicken, fish, beef (anything that's protein - whatever I fixed for the family). Then I'll have a couple of bites of veggie or potato depending on what we're having. S - I eat an apple every day and occasionally a low/carb s/f ice cream bar or yogurt in the evening. I've noticed it also helps me to drink at least 1/2 of my daily water intake at night after supper. Seems to be working so far -- I'm down 94 lbs since my 4/14/04 surgery date. Janie

Sounds like I eat a lot more than most of you. I typically eat about 1,000 calories per day like this: B - 1 packet of lower sugar oatmeal with 1/2 c. blueberries S (sometimes) - low carb yogurt L - salad with 5 oz protein and sometimes cup of soup S - fruit + 1/2 protein cookie or protein bar D - 3 oz protein, veggies and about 1/2 carbs (like tonight I ate about 3/4 of a tortilla pizza w/ a small salad) S - 1/2 c. sf ice cream or pudding I try to eat 5 - 6 meals per day. I also drink isopure (when I can get it down), crystal light and eat popcicles. I don't do so well with the liquids. Tandi 246/174/?

Sorry to do 2 posts but I don't know how to add to the other one once I've posted. But, I just read your other post about being stalled with weight loss. It may be that you're not getting enough cals. I was stalled for about 3 weeks and my nutritionist said that I wasn't getting enough cals based on my fitday.com entries. I was at about 800 and she said that at almost 6 mo. out, I should be closer to 1,000. As soon as I bumped it up, I started losing again. It might be worth a try. PS - I added fruit - I hadn't been eating much of that. Tandi 246/174/?

I just made a big long post in my profile about my typical day--- So here's what a typical day *right now* looks like at six months out: Breakfast- Coffee with light cream and splenda (up to 12-16 oz) - sometimes *just coffee, very often just coffee...BAD! Or.... Kashi Go Lean Crunch (about 1/3 cup)with a touch of whole milk... or a few bites "normal" cereal.... or leftover meat... Lunch- I usually make something quick for lunch, like a small salad with sliced turkey, or a taco salad with ground beef and cheese...if I don't have anything on hand to make, I'll hit the pantry for something like a small can of chili or beef stew... I'll eat about a 1/2 cup of chili, or from the beef stew, I eat the beef pieces, sauce, & veggies, I skip the potatoes. Dinner- Since I've got to feed the kids- I generally eat whatever part of the dinner I've made them that is suitable... aka if I make spaghetti & meat sauce, I just take a small pyrex dish and heat up leftover sauce (mostly meat), and zap it with cheese on top for my dinner...otherwise it's just protein for me, with a few bites of veggies if there's room. If I'm out of the house- I stick to "fast" food restaurants, because I don't like wasting money to sit and have a meal at a regular restaurant when I end up eating too much and feeling ill, or tossing it out. Chili is my number one standby when we're out. If not chili, then I look for refried beans with cheese, the insides of a chicken taco, shredded beef/chicken BBQ, or if I'm desperate, I'll get a childs' hamburger and eat just the patty itself. If nothing is appetizing, I go for a salad, and just pick. I'm a grazer- so snacking is a bad idea.... it just gets me going all day... but if I have to- I try to have a slice of cheese (provolone is my current fix), jerky, or a "bite" of whatever it is that I'm "craving". I also snack on whatever I can grab a few bites of, whether it's chicken salad, olives, jerky, string cheese, a Q-Smart bar...etc etc... I don't deny myself anything if I feel like having it, but I know what foods make me feel bad, and I stay FAR away from those. For example, I *know I can handle a few peanut M & M's... or three Hersheys' Kisses, so I'll have them. I know I cannot handle breads or doughy foods, and apparently a taste of cream cheese frosting is not good either. :-x My tastes have changed, but I'm glad I can still eat some of my favorites. Today is a bad example--- B- Coffee with cream and splenda S- beef jerky, three pieces L- lettuce, black eyed peas, shredded cheddar, chopped olives, tomatoes & dressing... about 1/2 cup total... S- broth from noodle soup, Fun Size M & M's D- two bites roast beef, two french fries, two bites noodles (damn fries, off kids' plate) I wasn't hungry really after having the broth... S's- two Hersheys' Kisses, decaf iced tea, bite of roast beef, still trying to get the tea down for the night........ Beth

Hi Rachel. I just read your food plan, and I like what you do. What kind of clear liquid protein drink works for you? I just finished reading your profile. What a journey! You are one of my inspirations on this WLS site. Thanks. Peg

Hi Rachel. The GNC protein drink sounds good. I can get that at Fred Meyers here. I think I'll go do that tomorrow! Thanks! Peg
