I had WLS on 04/06 - Doing fantastic. I have lost 70 pounds and am scheduled for plastics next week. I am at goal (well maybe just 10 more ) But I found out today I am hypoglycemic. I have been dizzy and tired and had labs today and turns out I have been hypoglycemic for 12 weeks and didnt know until my blood sugar level dropped really low today.. If you all recall I passe4d out cold about 2 months ago! Anyway.. just make sure you guys dont go crazy with the low carb.. protein thing... bc now I have to eat more carbs... Actually Im not sure what I have to eat. They didnt really tell me much.. Anyone else hypoglycemic? What are you doing?
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Did you have any blood sugar problems pre-op? What causes you to become hypoglycemic?
I remember when you passed out in the store - how scary! Well at least you discovered what it was. Are you going to meet with a specialist to get more info? Like - what to eat. You probably have to eat more frequently.
Is this going to be a problem for your plastic surgery? Hope not!
You are doing great, girl! Congratulations on your weight loss! Your surgery was the day before mine. I'm still quite a ways from my goal but I'll get there.
Good luck!
Ronda
I remember when you passed out! I'm glad they got to the bottom of it. I'm not sure what you should be eating exactly, but adding 'good' carbs to your diet is good advice for anyone. that would be things like whole wheat breads and pastas, brown rice (all of these give me a wicked stomach ache though) and green leafy veggies are really good choices...brocolli, spinach, cauliflower, etc. I also know a hypoglycemic friend of mine has to carry a snack in her purse...just in case she has an episode.
Take care,
Rachel
Hi Jamie - don't overdo on the carbs or you will crash. My daughter is hypoglycemic too - and carries a protein snack with her always and keeps peanut butter in her desk at work. Talk to the dietician - it is still a high protein diet for most people. And more frequent meals. My guess is that you miss meals which could also have been a factor in your passing out. Also - I don't think you should try to lose any more weight - you're just gorgeous now. Concentrate on staying healthy.
