April Monthly Progress Report
Hello All-
Not quite five months yet for me and I am down 77 pounds. Today says only 75 but I know I am carrying prementstrual fluid around. I am hoping to be under 200 by my five month annv. date of 9/15. I don't see my doc again until November. His goal for me was to be first under 200 and then we would go from there. I would like to be somewhere between 150-170 when I am done. I will probably need plastics to get rid of the rest since the skin is already sagging. That is okay though because this surgery was the best thing I could of done for myself. I wish you all luck and success on your weight loss journeys. I will keep you posted on my progress.

277/200/150??
Well everyone is doing especially you Donna, Well I had my surgery April 27 I've lost 71 pounds. I was on a platu last 2 weeks but I over it now. I dump something terrible yesterday. I went from a 24 and some 26 to a 16 and some 14 . I first weight 301 not I weight 235 not sure I look so small and can weight a 14 . I guess its muscle
It's so interesting to read about how differently we progress through our journeys.
I'm at 5 months and I've lost about 60lbs. I too really need to focus more on my exercise to help speed things up. But one good thing I've noticed about my slow but steady weight loss is that my skin really isn't hanging. I know there's still a whole lot more skin left to deflate, so there's still time for the saggy baggy look to come.
One of my favorite things to have happened with this loss is that I finally have some energy and can do more physically around the house and yard. I used to force myself to do heavy chores then I'd have to stop before I was done and lay down with a heating pad to soothe the aches and pains. Now I bop up and down the stairs a zillion times without noticing. How cool is that? It's always the little things that make you smile.
I had my surgery on 4/23/04. I am 5'2" and on surgery day weighed 274.4 as of this weekend I weigh 214.4!!!! -60 pounds! My body has changed so much, my attitude has changed for the positive too! Life is just more fun and more bearable now! It helps so much when your knees, ankles and back aren't killing you before you even get out of bed in the bed in the morning!!!
It sounds like everyone is doing great. I love to see the difference in how we are all losing and the sizes we can wear at different weights! My surgery was 4/14 and I'm down 87 lbs. I'm wearing 16 bottoms and L or XL tops. Even though the "girls" have deflated, there is still plenty there. I went from a 42 DD to a 36 DDD. I actually look forward to exercise (most days) he he. There are some days still that I have absolutely no energy.
I have about 40 lbs to goal. The dr. says 150, but I would like to see 140. We'll see. My goal right now is to build some strength. I do Curves 2-3 times a week and walk 2.5-3.5 mi about 4 days a week. I also just started a "fit ball" class that meets twice a week.

272/185/140?
Hi, I am down 68lbs from a BMI of 67 to a BMI of 54. I still have a long, long way to go, but I know even though I am a turtle I can still win this race. I plateau quite a bit...seems like I lose 3-5lbs then sit at a plateau for a week or more. However, I make small goals along the way that keep me motivated.
Good Luck everyone,
I had just posted this on the general board when someone recomended I try the April board.
What is happening....is it just me.....or did this happen to you
I had my surgery on April 12th of this year and have only lost 65 lbs. I started at 250 and the weight loss has seemed to stop or slow alot. Also I am losing my hair and I wonder when does it stop and the weight loss start. Help I am so afraid it is something I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help in advance
I was so glad to read this email.....I guess I am doing ok.
Hi Patti - you are doing just fine. I am too - I'm 59 years old and had my surgery the same day as you. I started at 253 - now weigh about 185 depending on which scale - anyway, between 66 and 70 lbs loss. I've lost a lot of hair and am doing everything I've been told to do. The most important to me is that I feel wonderful. Able to do so much more. My severe asthma is gone. I'm no longer morbidly obese - soon I'll just be obese.
I've been told that the hair loss stops between 8-12 months - so eat your protein, take your vitamins, add biotin and zinc and use Nioxin shampoo and other products.
I'm trying to exercise regularly - not perfect but I try to do something every day.
Feel free to email me at [email protected] - we're in about the same place. We're going to lose at a slower rate than people who started at 350-400 lbs. That does not mean we are doing something wrong.

Hiya Patti,
It's pretty normal what you are experiencing from what others post. I am losing my hair by the hand loads and I've definitely experienced the plateau thing. At 4 weeks out, I didn't lose any weight at all for 4 more weeks. Then it all kinda started slowly slipping away.
I personally love this April board because everyone is pretty much on the same level of playing field.
