Hey Everyone... Today is 5 months out and I'm down 65.5 pounds.....a little slower than most, I've read many posts where people are down 100 pounds by six months.... I AM VERY HAPPY.....however, do most of you feel a bit more hungrier now - I'm told the reason is our stomach is probably 100% healed and now the "behavior" part of our mission kicks in... ANYHOO - HAPPY 5 MONTHS OUT TO ALL!!! Nancy

Hi Donna - I also had my surgery on April 20th - There are days I feel like I could eat a house - but others I am just fine. But my appitite is much more over all. I try to stick to high protein and salads. Toni Bowen Open DS - 20 April 2004 5'1" - 285/216/135

I am so happy I found this message board. I had my surgery on April 2 and I have been so hungry. I am glad to hear it is normal. I now have to work more on the behavior stuff. My nutistionist has my counting calories and protien grams but I feel like I am back on a diet. Is any one else counting calories? Judy

I don't really count them until after I've eaten them. Then I try to get more calories in after that! I track everything I eat on fitday. Well, I don't track lettuce or the sugar free turtle I eat everyday, but everything else. I have noticed that I can eat more, sometimes, but for the most part I still don't get in enough calories. Yesterday, I ate less than 600 cals for the day. So far today, I've had about 350 and that's with breakfast, cheese snack, and lunch. There have been days that I've eaten 1000 cals, but for the most part hover around 650 to 750 per day. We shouldn't consider ourselves on a diet, but we do have to monitor what we eat. Of course, our choices should be much much better than we made prior to surgery, so this may be why it "feels" like a diet. I don't deprive myself of something sweet; SF turtles, 1/2 no sugar added ice cream bar, etc. However, I eat only 1 turtle a day and have had the same box of ice cream bars (12) since July. It might be time to chunk the box of ice cream, but I view it as a VICTORY because in the past, that box would have been gone in 2 days. I have been hungry maybe 4 or 5 times since surgery, but I can tell when my body "needs" food. I get cranky and short tempered. That's when I just call a time out and say, "I have to get something to eat". My staff has realized to just leave me alone until I get this done and about 15 minutes past it. Then I'm good. Good luck! Liz -95 pounds
