starting to lose hair.....
I noticed my hair starting to fall out at almost exactly 3 months after my surgery. It's still falling out, but it seems to have slowed some.
I began taking Biotin vitamins (from GNC) for Hair, Skin and Nails, and using Nioxin shampoo as soon as it began. I don't know if these products made any difference or not.
I had my appointment with my surgeon yesterday and asked him about the hair loss. He said it should stop at about 6 to 8 months post op, or as soon as the weight loss starts to slow down. He says the hair loss is a side effect of the rapid weight loss.
He was also quick to point out that he's never had a patient go bald!
My hair started falling out at the 3 month mark. Now it falls out by the fist full. I can't believe I have any hair left on my head. Luckly I have a lot of hair. So far I'm no really doing anything about it (other than what I'm already supposed to be doing with protien and vitamins). I hear it last 3 to 6 months and then starts growing back in.
I have started losing alot of hair the last two weeks. I am 3 1/2 months out and a little worried. Everyone assures me this is normal. Luckily I have lots of hair but it does bug me. So I decided to get a sexy short hairstyle and an updated color. I bought a magazine with thousands of hairstyles and showed it to my friends and family who helped me pick my new "do". I am now excited for my hair appointment next week.
A new me and new hair all at once!!!
Yep, I've been losing handfuls of hair for 2 straight months.......it is so gross to just pull out globs and globs of hair at a time. I upped my protein, started taking biotin.....and started using Nioxin shampoo as soon as it started, but it doesn't seem to help much at all. I HAD real thick hair.......my ponytail used to be a nice thick rope......now it is a thin straggly piece of string.
I'm losing it by the handfuls since about 3 weeks ago. My doctor also says its normal at this stage, and told me to increase my protein. If you can't get it in with food, start drinking shakes or adding protein powder to what you eat/drink. I guess I'm lucky for the fact that I have a ton of really thick hair, so it isn't noticable at all to anyone else. But its hard for me not to notice when I wake up with hair all over my pillow.
