To all slow losers.................

I posted this under "so you think you're a slow loser?" but I figured it may get lost down there, and I'm hoping this can help some of you, or at least help to change your outlook. I'm not necessarily a slow loser. I think I'm about average. But I, too, was getting discouraged because I hit a month long plateu where I wasn't losing anything. But my mother gave me some advice that I'm passing along (and please do this-- I did, and walked away with a new outlook): Go into a grocery store and head for the meat department. Find the chop meat, and separate 30lbs, 40lbs (whatever it is you've lost). Look at all that meat and be proud of yourself that you're no longer carrying that around! If you think about it, all of that "meat" was on your body only 2 months ago. How freeing it is to have lost that! Remember, none of us gained this weight overnight. If it takes a year or 2 years to come off, thats still a lot quicker than most of us put it on. I know it took me a good 6 years of gaining/losing and yo-yo dieting to get to my preop weight. Hang in there!

Thank you so much Jill. I think of a 40 lb bag of dogfood that I was carrying around. No wonder I'm lighter on my toes. Ruth

Wow a 40 lb bag of dog food really works for me. I was in bed a week last time I tried to lift one. Dianne
