I'm right there with you Pam! I have good days, and bad days! Today has started out to be a bad day! I had about 4 bites of grits and was sick for 2 hours....But I still had to drive my kids to daycare and go to work....feeling better, but still alittle woozy in the tummy. It seems that my little tummy is getting picky. I can't drink milk, have a hard time with pills, and it will be along time befor i have pork, or grits again! soup is a sure thing, one that I know I can eat. I really don't like to eat anymore...I'm finally thinking of food as fuel....something necessary. I do have "head hunger" but have not acted on it and recognize it for what it is....and certianly don't want to deal with the wrath of my tummy!!! I NEVER thought I would be a PICKY EATER! I'm down about 45 lbs. I walk 2 mile a day (on my days off) and use and exercise ball and hand weights in the evening. I'm starting to think a trip to good will is in order, for all my pants are getting to big!!! congrats on your loss Katie

WOW Pam, I could've written your post! My eating is a lot like yours but seems to be getting a little better during this last week. Hopefully we are just going through a phase. I haven't actually vomited but have had the nausea some. Mostly, I just don't want to eat. I have lost 45 lbs (35 post-op) Good luck to you, Ronda

I'm doing pretty darn good. I'm down 53 pounds and I'm feeling so much better than I did pre-op. I just joined the YMCA and plan on enrolling in aqua-cizing classes in a couple of weeks. As far as food goes, I am still having trouble getting in all of my protein each day. I have been able to tolerate pretty much all types of meats, but in small quantities. I've steered away from foods with sugar in them......and to be honest, I don't really miss the sugar at all. I'm stoked because I'm leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow night, so keep your fingers crossed for me........I SO need to hit a big jackpot! Shelli 430/377/under 200!

My name is Keri Stephenson. I had R-N-Y on April21,2004. I was told about this website at our support group meeting last night.Boy have I been on the computer since then. I had my first, second and hopefully last bout with being sick this weekend. I don't know if I had a virus or what.It started at 5a.m.,after taking med's. I can eat most anything but I don't want to find to many things I can eat though. I still have gas pains really bad after I eat or drink most things. I use gas-x and beano. They haven't helped to much though.Hopefully, things will get better soon.

I had my lap RNY on 4/13 so I'm about 7 weeks out. Weightloss wise I'm doing great from 277.8 to 224.5 - about 53lbs! I love fitting back into my clothes from my last diet "success" and I'm lower by my scale than I've been since my wedding seven years ago! Still I'm actually bigger than I was when I lost 40lbs working out five days a week (Curves), everything was tighter then but I was also younger and had only had one baby instead of two! LOL I'm still struggling with the food. I had two dilatations at about one month out and my pouch seems to be pretty sensitive. I can eat ground beef (love those meatballs!) and salad was surprisingly one of the easiest things to eat - everything just slides right down. However chicken seems to dry and just tonight I had a episode because of the potatoes au gratin I made to go with my low fat hamburger patty, squash and salad. I'm hoping that I won't need a third dilatation, at least now I am getting down liquids, before nothing was staying down. I still get nauseous from drinking water and I miss it terribly but it's just not worth it. I'm living on SF Hawaiian Fruit Punch. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it's worth it but then I have enough energy to take my kids shopping, clean the house, do laundry, cook dinner, and still take them for a walk. Yep, I'm a little sore but it's so worth it be able to live again! Aylene 277.8/224.5/150ish lap RNY 4/13/04

Surgery date 04/06 - Down 45 pounds. Size 10. Feel good. I was really sick there for awhile and I had terrible complications, so its nice not to vomit everything up. I still dump on anything sugar and Im actually glad about it bc I dont even try it....

Hi Conita...My re-birthday was April 9th....as of today, June 10th I've lost 42 pounds!!! Yeaaahhhh meeeee. I haven't had any problems either. I haven't had any trouble with foods, if something tastes like it's not going to sit well, I just stop. That seems to work with me. My dr.'s office said no lettuce until 5 months out but I have had a little now and then and haven't had any problems with it. Glad your doing well..... Later Tina M R Open RNY 04/09/04 272/230/134

Hi Conita, My name is Stacy. I had my open ryn on April 14th. As of my 6wk appointment(4/27) I'm down 42lbs. I don't have scales here at my home. I didn't want to become one of those people who weigh themselves every day and get depressed if I thought I wasn't losing fast enough. I'm on the whole feeling well. I still have some pain but even that is getting less and less each day. At least when I sneeze now it doesn't feel like my insides are being pulled apart..lol I do have trouble getting in all my liquids. My dr said as long as I'm drinking some and not getting deydrated I'm fine, just to keep trying to increase my liquids. As for foods...I can tolorate just about most foods. I stay away from sugars though. I don't want to get sick so just avoid them all together. I have found that I don't really care for meats much anymore though. I can tolerate chicken if its very tender. Most other meats I don't care to chew or care for the texture. I've had pizza, salad, veggies, fruits with no problems. I've even eaten rice with no prolems. I've had bread, but most times when I do, I try to toast it, which makes things go down better. I have unfortunately dumped a few times...but not because of what I've eaten but because of the fact that I've eaten a bit too fast. But, I'm learning to take it very slow. I'm looking forward to the new me. Congratulations to all that have had the surgery and keep up the great work.

Hi Conita! I wish I could figure this "eating" thing out..I'm nearly 2 months out, surgery was 4/14, and one day I can eat chicken, and the next day it comes right back up..same for just about everything except SF popcicles and low carb/low sugar yougurt! Eating is just no fun..and I have trouble eating slowly..my daughter gave me a good suggestion, which has helped, cutting my food up into small pieces to begin with, so I don't accidently pop a regular bite into my mouth and swallow it, as I have done so many times already, because I forget I can't do that anymore...yougurt is my friend. I got some unflavored protein powder, and add a scoop to my yougurt..it does change the taste, but it's better than the drinks and gives me 30 grms protien..I'm down 45 lbs as of today..but some are losing so much faster, it's hard not to be envious! lol
