Weight Standing Still
Hi ladies,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. I was so happy when I checked the message board today to see such a huge response. I'm not happy that we are stuck at a certain weight, but it did make me feel better to know that I wasn't the only person going through this. My husband tells me to put the scale away to, but it becomes so addictive to see the scale numbers go down. My husbands keeps reminding me that I am eating right, going to the gym, and doing everything that I'm suppose to do, so I should be very proud of myself. I'm going to hide the scale for a wk, and see what happens. I know we will get past this guys. Thanks for all the support, and good luck. : )
Same here guys, I will be 6 weeks post op and the scale is playing head ganes yesterday 195.5 and today 204. I will not weigh myself for a week and remove it from the bathroom today. Very frustraited lately but as someone else said. (be real, how can we not loose on the bird food we eat in a days time). It will come off for all of us.
thanks, Barb
Wow you have gotten alot of responses! I just came off my plateau...........please don't be discouraged!!!!! I was stuck at 245 for 2 weeks and VERY frustrated. I told my daughter to hide the scale from me! I waited and now I am at 238.5 after about another week and a half. So have your husband hide the scale from you!!!!!
Another thing I have been being told.......we know the weight is going to come off, but it is much better for it to come off slow and steady than really fast because our skin will have a much better chance of adjusting. (Less loose skin) and I have noticed it. Remember to take your measurements and look in the mirror because YOU ARE SHRINKING.....

Well, you're doing better than I am! I've only lost about four pounds in the last three weeks. Still, I'm feeling so much better than before the surgery, so I have to keep that in mind. I've stepped up my exercise and been drinking more water this week, so I hope I'll do better now. Everyone hits a plateau at some point, so I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep doing what we're supposed to do, and it will come off eventually. Feel free to e-mail me any time if you need support.

Thank you so much for posting this question! I was just complaining on the phone to my mother about how frustrated I am that I have lost 4 pounds in the last two weeks--a total of 41--and I'm hovering excrutiatingly at 212-214lbs. I just want to get out of the 200s!!! I'm glad to know that this is a function of time for many of us. I've decided to hide the scale until next Saturday--my one monthaversary.
Good luck breaking your plateau!

I have been stuck for 3 week. At my one month I had lost 28 lbs. Now at 2 months I have lost 35. 7 lbs in a month. I hope it will pick up soon since my doc said I would average 20 lbs/mo. I need to have a hernia operation and doc will not operate till I am below 250 - 56 lbs to go. It has not been bothering me much lately, but I am worried that it might start again. I set my goal for October (my birthday) to be between 200 and 250, so that I might have the surgery before Christmas.
It is so very frustrating, and I try to stay off the scale, but when you ARE losing it is so motivating to see the number go down 1-2 lbs a day.
I have increased my activity and my protein but not much change. I am getting more protein shakes and bars from bariatriceating.com to help me stay away from stuff I shouldn't have, so here's hoping that things will start moving again!!
Looks like we're all stuck on the same plateau. I am five weeks and two days out and have lost 30 lbs. However, that 30 was in the first 3 weeks and like others in this chain, I've been gaining and losing the same two lbs over and over. I'm going to start walking more tomorrow (a formal routine with a friend) and hopefully that will help. Good luck to everyone else!
