A couple of days after I came home from the hospital I had an infection in the JP site. I went to the doctor and he pulled the JP out. Last week I was constantly nauseous from smelling the horrible odor coming with the discharge. I went back to the doctor on Thursday and he cleaned out the site and packed it with gauze. He showed my husband how to pack it which he does everyday. I go back to see the doctor tomorrow. I don't have much of an appetite and have to push myself to even drink water. I feel nauseous most of the time. The doctor said this is just a bump in the road. My doctor is an It helps having such a wonderful, caring doctor. Anyone else experience an infection? I have lost 24 lbs. since I got home on 4/26.

Hi Elizabeth, I can't even imagine how hard it must be to deal with odor right now. So sorry about that. I haven't had any infections...yet...knock wood. Two of my friends that had theirs in March have. The had a tough time, but they are starting to feel like there old selves with in the last week or two. Hope things get better soon for you. Congrats on the weightloss Take care, RAchel

Hi Rachel, I'm glad you're doing so well after surgery. I think if you were going to have an infection it would be there by now. I'm a diabetic so I guess it's not uncommon. I went to the doctor today. He said everything is looking better. He is going to see me weekly until it's healed. Thanks for your good wishes. Betty

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this right now. I know what you are going through! everything was fine for the bypass....but when I had my tubes tied i had a very bad infection (back in the hospital for two days, after just having a baby)! your Dr. is right though, it is just a bump in the road, this too shall pass and you will soon be feeling great! Good luck Katie

Hi Elizabeth, Hope you're feeling better. I too had an infection, one week after surgery. They had to reopen it and I had to pack it twice a day for awhile, and then once a day. Then it was reinfected and this time they put me on an antibiotic for a week. I went back today, and it's back on the antibiotic for another week. Ho hum. There isn't any pain or smell... just still draining. It has to heal from the inside out. I am certainly a slow healer. Hopefully, yours will be much quicker. Hugs, Laurel
