i h ad surgery 4-20-04
Valerie--I had surgery on 4/21 and came home in the early evening on 4/23. No nausea or vomiting to report yet. I think I've had more burping than gas. I've had my first bowel movement but still feel quite bloated. I'll be glad when that "passes." I'm able to drink about 5 glasses of water/day but I was a water drinker before surgery. I do notice a little discomfort if I drink water too quickly. Hang in there. We've just begun!!
I also had surgery on the 20th. I came home the morning of the 23rd. I am doing well. I too am working diligently to get in a lot of water. It is difficult. I am not having any pain due to the surgery(i think). However I am having some pain in my left shoulder(old injury flareup...). I picked up my two year old with out thinking on Saturday. Also, my lower back has been hurting since day two in the hospital.....there is a little bump on my spine back there I will be telling my doctor about on Thursday when I get my staples out.
I am not feeling hungry or full. I just drink my broth and water all day long. Sometimes I wonder if I am drinking too fast. But I have no discomfort/throwing up or anything.
Anyway, I think I am doing darn good....surprisingly, mind wise too. I thought it would be more difficult at this point!! Glad it is not, but expecting mind games at some point.
e-mail me anytime,

I'm glad to hear that I am not alone - I too neither feel full nor hungry. My surgery was 4/22 and have been on a liquid diet since yesterday - 3 carnation instant breakfast meals a day and a 1/2 cup of either pudding, cream soup, cottage cheese. Did the 1/2 cup of soup tonight - took me about 45 minutes - I wasn't hungry but I never got to that full feeling. Getting all the water in has been tough. Horrible gas rumbling through. I still weigh more than I did pre op - hoping that will pass soon.
