Topic: Why no TUMS???
Robin in VA posted (to someone else here) that TUMS weren't a good choice for calcium. Why is that? What would work better! Thanks in advance!

I had surgery on April 3, 2003 and I am already down 105 lbs. 421/316. Even though I have had another surgery since (unrelated to the WLS) I am feeling stronger everyday. Due to this other surgery and complications that came up since the WLS I have not had a chance to really enjoy the weight loss I have had. I am now starting to recover from my other complications and just beginning to realize what a difference 105 lbs makes. I cannot wait until all my recent health issues are behind me so I can concentrate on my weight loss and regale in its outcomes. This surgery was the best decision I have ever made. The first 2 months are touch and go but once you get to that 3 month it seems the body adjusts and I am ready to move towards the new me!

Topic: Hi, I feel great!!!!
Hi!! I had surgery on April 23rd and weighed 308 at the time of surgery. I have since lost 51lbs. which has brought my weight down to 257lbs. and it feels incredible!! I never thought that I could ever feel this good about myself again. It's amazing the effect that weightloss can have on your self-esteem. I know that I haven't been on this journey for all that long and I still have a ways to go but, now it doesn't seem impossible. That in itself gives me great hope that I will make it through. It's been tough, but I can feel myself getting stronger and I know that I will make it. Thanks, for reading!! Sincerely, Lucy 308/257/??? Open VBG 04/23/03

Hi back Tammy, congrats, wow, what a loss!!!! I bet you are feeling terrific! I was on 4/8, started at 226 and today hit 179. I celebrate as I lose every ten pounds. It goes slower for me so I get a little frustrated about once a week but then I get real and realize I am losing consistenly and doing well. welcome, where in Tx are you from? Robin in Alexandria VA

Hi Robin, I'm Vivian from NJ and I had my surgery on 4/7/03. I started out @ 321# and as of 6/25/03 I have lost 61.5#s and am at 259.5#. I am doing wll and find I have more energy than before. I am eating regular foods and find that I tolerate most of them well. I have found I have trouble with american cheese, though. I am also staying away from the pasta, breads, rice, and cake items. I eat the proteins, vegies and fresh fruits the most. I have been so happy strawberries have been in season here, but not for much longer. I have found the site to be very helpful and am glad to meet other people to share experiences with. At this time we do not have a local support group for people who have had the surgery, so the site helps fill the void. some of us in the area are pushing for a group and I am sure it will happen. Best of luck and contact me anytime you would like. Vivian

Well Lee, I was begining to worry that I wasn't doing too terribly well... i don't have a "full" sensation anymore, so it's been difficult to rate when i'm done and when i'm not... usually it takes me taking a tiny sip of a liquid during my meals to see if it goes down... if not then it's obvious i have no more room... LOL kinda sucks, i'm sure i'm stretching the dang pouch out or something! I have to be really careful how much i eat, however i can eat practically anything i want besides bread and rice... oh and Triskets... those suck for me... but in anycase, i'm worrying that I'm eating too much, but i'm not too worried about WHAT it is, although i reeeeeeeeeeeally miss bread! Seeya! Ember.
