Topic: RE: Weight loss
Hi there,
I had surgery on April 28th and to date (07/21/03) have lost 62 lbs. I recently reached a plateau because I had been feeling very nauseous and had not been able to eat very much. I increase water intake and have been trying to increase food intake with the hopes that my loss will continue.
Topic: RE: Pain
Yvonne, I had the same problem about a month ago. I had surgery on 4/3/2003 and started back to the gym in mid june. I got this pain you are describing, called my doctor and he had me come in that day. He said it was the scar tissue stretching and that it may hurt for a week or so. So hopefully that is you problem. If it bothers you a whole lot I would stay out of the gym until you saw the MD. After all you want to make sure what it is prior to hurting anything more...Good Luck!

Topic: RE: nausea after 2 months **gastroplasty**
At times I do feel nausea, but have never been sick. I really notice it if I have drank too soon after eating. My surgeon recommends loading the stomach with water 15 minutes before eating and waiting at least 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours before drinking again. I drink only water and am very afraid of any other beverage. Also, you could be mixing too many foods at one time. Try eating only one food and eating very slow, waiting at least 2 to 3 minutes and up to 5 minutes between bites and chew chew chew. You maybe not grinding the food to a pulp before swallowing. Don't talk while eating because you could also getting too much air which in turn will cause the stomach to hurt. I usually try easy disolvable tums which seems to help if I have eaten too quickly. I hope any of this helps.

I started at 319 and have lost 74 pounds since Tax Day April 15, 2003. I have hit several plateaus and each time increased water and eating. My surg told me that I needed to increase both to get my body over the starvation mode. All makes sense if you think of food as fuel. You can't run your car on an empty tank and neither can I run my body either. I eat about anything I want but always try to eat proteins. I eat alot of chicken strips, nuggets, and fries all cooked on a George Foreman Grill. Protein Protein Protein First...
Topic: Pain
I had my surgery on 4/23 and everything is going well. I've only lost 32lbs so far. I go to the gym three days a week, and I've been told that my weight lost my be a little slower because muscle weighs more. The problem that I'm having is sometimes out of the blue, I get this sharp pain on the right side of my abdomen. My gallbladdder was removed a few yrs. ago. Sometimes the pain is so intense it hurts to move. I'm trying not to scare myself into thinking that something is wrong. Maybe it's scar tissue? Did I tear something inside? I'm going for my 3 mo post op visit with my Dr. later this week, but I was wondering for now has anyone else experience anything like this.
Topic: Weight loss
I know I am not suppose to compare myself to others. I was wondering what the average weight loss has been for this group of people- you know the ones who had surgery in April. I am just curious to see if I am doing ok. Guess I need a little reassurance. I have been having a tough time sticking to the right foods. My stats are 5'6" start weight of 251, current weight-189-190 (loss of about 60#'s) my goal is 150 and my doctors goal is 144. I had surgery on the 2rd of April. Anyone want to share their information?
Topic: RE: PERSONAL - FOR LADIES ONLY!!!
My friends have been coming more often since the surgery. Sometimes 2x in less than 5 weeks. I think our bodies just need time to adapt to the dramatic change. Everything should get regulated soon.
Topic: RE: Platues happen :(
I had surgery on April 8th. I have hit several plateaus. At first it really discouraged me. Each time I have hit one when I passed it I lost several pounds really quickly. The thing about plateaus is that even if you are losing pounds you may still be losing inches. Plateaus happen but don't let them get you down. Good luck all.
