Rhonda: I had surgery on April 21 and I have only lost 63 lbs. You are doing great. I too flutuate in weight gain. You could weigh tomorrow and you will probably of lost the weight. I take the B12 sublingual and I seem to have more enery when I take them. You might want to try them. I hope this helps and that you get some more energy. Good luck! Drema

Rhonda, since your so tired and fatigued, I would go to my doctor and get labs your iron may be low, but I wonder if you would do better with B12 sublinguel, I get the tiny dots from vitalady, they just disolve under your tongue, and they are like $6.79 for 100 of them and I take 1 daily and I really tell a differance. I have heard many people say the monthly shot doesnt last all month, and by the end they are really dragging. Before surgery "my get up and go was gone" now taking my B12 my mind cant keep up with my body, I have so much energy, more than in the past 15 years, and when I forget to take it for a couple of days I can tell. YOur weight gain may be a monthly water gain, and it does fluctuate daily, you may be dow 2# tomorrow. Hope you start getting your strength back soon. :0)

I had surgery April 14th and so far I've lost 70 lbs. But this week when I weighed (I only weigh once a week), I GAINED 2 1/2lbs!!! I've been keeping track of my intake on fitday.com and I'm only taking in between 700 and 1000 calories and keeping my carbs down to a minimum. Has anyone else had this problem? Also I've taken 2 b-12 shots so far and they are making me lethargic. I sleep at work during my breaks even. This lasts for about the first 2 weeks after my shot. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks..Rhonda

Seems like we are all losing at about the same pace. I had my surgery on 4/21/03 and I am down 63 lbs. I feel so much better and my life is so good now. Never regretted having surgery even for one minute.
Topic: RE: Meat... Any Problems?
Gail, I am also 4 months out and I still cannot tolerate meats. I don't even try anymore. I also cannot do any kind of bread. I laughted today and told a friend that I basically just eat like I am still on phase 2. I do so much better with foods that are soft and easy to digest. Good luck!

A friend of mine that had this surgery told me her doctor told her to eat oatmeal in the morning and that there's something with that to help with hair loss. I don't know first hand YET but I'm getting ready myself. Good luck. Please keep the posts going it helps me get ready for it all!! Thanks Gang!!

I have no problems yet since my date isn't up. But in reading around on the site some people said they can handle ground meat just not steak. I hope this helps

Hi Patty...
I would have to say your Dr is right. Overeating or eating too fast will cause that. Try eating smaller amounts...and eating slower. That should solve your problem...

I'm just a little over 4 mos post and my hair is falling out so quickly now that even my husband stopped me and said "wait, let me get all this hair off you" before we went into a restaurant this evening. He's never noticed anything like that before. I too was blessed with a lot of hair, but I almost feel like I'll be bald before this is all over with (my grandmother was bald from alopecia and I do not want to go there!!). I know I need to increase my protein too... and a friend who had the surgery said to take flax seed oil, so I'm gonna do that... what can it hurt??? Take care and take heart in that you're not the only one who looks like you're wearing a hair shirt.
