Topic: HI Eliz,
This is Gwyn ...
HI Eliz,
This is Gwyn Nevils in Kansas City, Kansas. It appears you and I are
on the same road. I too am 53 years old and a Sistah. I had my surgery on June
9, 2003 (Open Rny) I am doing great. However, I have lost 40 lbs.
My start weight was 254 and now I am 214. Don't know if that is slow
or not, but it is coming off and that good for me.
Keep the faith, we did not gain this weight over nite and it will take
more than over nite to get it off. We can do this.
I can be reached at [email protected]. Look forward
to hear from you. God Bless.......
Topic: Down 100 pounds..yahoo...
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to shout from the roof tops that I am down 100 pounds and am wearing a size 14/16 depending on brand. My surgery was April 23 and I had a RNY Lap.
The only problem that I have is a constant battle with dry heaving and feeling yucky. Other than that, all is good...
Hugs,
April

Topic: RE: Hair loss is getting quite evident; eye glasses
WHEN can we expect it to start growing back?! I am soooo sick of losing hair. I too was blessed with very thick hair, but now I hardly 'recognize' it when I run my fingers through it in back.... there's so much less there!!! It's frustrating. Any ideas, guys?
Topic: RE: surgery 4/21..big time plateau
Eric, I just came off of a 2- or 3-week plateau myself... my surgery was also 4/21. I was doing everything RIGHT and finally just figured there was nothing more I could do. I did start walking, though (daily), and the scale started moving again. 3 pounds one week... and 2 days later, 2 more pounds... and then another, and so on. It WILL HAPPEN!
You have lost a great deal of weight, so try not to worry! I know - easier said than done. ;) Good luck!

Topic: RE: LOSSES IN WEIGHT AND HAIR
Gwendolyn, I had my surgery on April 22, 2002. I have lost 82 lbs. also & I am also losing a lot of hair even though I try to uptake my protein intake by supplementing with pre-protein that I buy in the pharmacy. I have seen that my hair loss this wk is only getting a little better, this was worrying me already. The way I seem to get my energy levels up is take all my vitamins religiously, specially the B12, you can get sublinguals at GNC very cheap. Try to have your provider monitor your blood levels at least every 12 months to see if you're supplements are working or you are having malabsorbtion problems. Try to eat very slowly & chew a lot that usually helps me with my food problems, if something disagrees with you still, wait a few months later & try again! I hope this helps you out, God Bless Grisell.
