I am 5 months and 3 days out and made it finally. I still have 60 lbs to go but I am certain it will happen this year before I am one year out.
Topic: RE: Hair loss is getting quite evident; eye glasses
Hello, My name is Phyllis, I had surgery April 14, 2003 and I am down 89 pounds. I am so excited that I finally weigh less than my husband. I too am loosing a tremdous amount of hair. My kids say they don't need a dog because I shed hair all over the place. I was thin on top before the surgery and now I am really thin. Does anyone use any special shampoo or anything to help. Is protein pretty much the only thing that will help? I just am fearful of being bald. But I am totally happy with the weight loss. Phyllis

Mary Congrats and WTG on your great weight loss keep up the good work
Topic: RE: Am I losing slower than normal?
I, too, have reached my 6 month plateau...frustrating after losing almost 8-10# per month to just stop losing ! Started at 262, have been bouncing between 197 and 200. (Feels great to run again) Starting to doubt my 150 goal...130 sounds better. Have started writing everything that I eat down again (tolerate most things except carbs) and was advised by Dr Mallouf that working 12 hour shifts on a med-surg floor doesnt count as excercise....one needs to physically SWEAT 20 min/3-4 times/wk. Stationary bike, and started weight training. Find it hard to make the time to do it. Guess its time to start really working. Am really glad to hear others are experiencing these same problems...going to try to incorporate another protein drink in. They seem to keep me from feeling hungry.
Topic: RE: Meat... Any Problems?
Hi Gail. I am at 5 months and still cannot tolerate meat of any kind.
I have the most success w/Filet Mignon cooked Medium to Medium Well.
The rest I cannot handle.
I sometimes make myself vomit so that I will feel better.
It seems we are not alone in our inability to keep that meat down.
Good Luck, Gail!

April...congratulations! I am so happy for you!
I am at -100 also and it seems like a dream!
You, go girl!
Topic: RE: Problem with vomiting
If I eat meat/fish/chicken I immediatly feel vomity. I usually have to make myself get sick. Sometimes if I wait about 20 minutes, I will feel better.
I know I am not overeating so that can't be the problem, but my surgeon said when I go for my 6mo checkup if I still cannot tolerate meats then he will investigate. This problem has never ceased and has been around since I started adding meats to my diet.
Good luck to you and me and all the rest who have the same problem.
I wish I had an answer though!
