Cara, I was just reading your posting and I actually get excited with your results wondering if it will be this good for me when/if I have my surgery. I am pending a response from my insurance company. I was originally thinking of getting the Lap Band but due to my weakness in sweets in the past i am afriad to go back to that and therefore fail with the lap band. I chose the RNY Lap hoping to first of all get back to being healthy and than of course, to lose the most weight possible. I currently weigh 200 lbs and am 4' 11". I am suppose to weigh 114 but would be so happy with 130 lbs. But than again that sounds like a far far away dream since the last time I weighed 130 lbs was in 1989 when I got married. Did you have your RNy laproscopically? Can you give me an example of what you ate the first two weeks? What kind of vitamins are you taking and how do you know which ones to buy. Do you swallow them or do you have to crush them into your meals?
thanks,
Syl

Leona, believe me I feel the same way that you do. Our weight loss is very simular. I got on a web site last night that told me that our weight loss is right on track. We are in the average loss range. So, let's just try to be really proud of ourselves & give up our negative thought patterns toward ourselves that we have had in the past.... Good luck & congrats you are doing GREAT!
Topic: RE: 6 MONTHS POST- OP TODAY!!!!
Original poster, here. Patti, I got a real giggle out of your reply! I wonder why it is that I sometimes think my -75 lb weight loss is not enough?? Not as good as it should be? I read of some people loosing -100 lbs at this point. Then, I feel as though I have done something 'wrong'....... I wonder if I will loose all of my excess weight in my window of opportunity.... I still am very hard on myself. Never, feel 'quite' good enough. YUCK! I need to praise myself for the accomplishment that I have made thus far. Thanks for letting me express my feelings & any responses are most welcome....

72 pounds...72 POUNDS...You have lost 72 pounds....72 pounds that will never come back. 72 pounds that have increased your energy and of course people are looking, they can tell that something positive is going on with you...We reek aura...They can see it even if you can't...Be proud of what you have accomplished, I am...My doctor told me that if I am not losing enough that I need to INCREASE my eating. Keep a tab on how much you are eating. Remember that you will only absorb so many nutrients and because of this we have to fuel our gas tank. If you don't keep gas in your car, you will run out of gas and have to walk..If you don't keep your body feed and nutrient bound, we all run out of fuel and your body will go into a fight and flight mode. It will not want to let loose that excess because it is not getting enough to let it know it is okay. You have lost 72 pounds that will never come back. I don't know about you but everytime I lost that 72 pounds I gained it back and more...Pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself. Loss is Loss and this is one of the best losses you will ever have..I AM SO PROUD..KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.. talk later, Patti

I will take irregular discomfort over 105 pounds anyday..I am so proud of you and your accomplishments. People say that dieting and losing is the hard way but I don't think they understand the commitment we made over 6 months ago. At least if they want something they can eat it, I don't know about you but if its a nono it is off my list...Try using lemon juice in water and walking about 30 minutes. It seemed to work for me. I too am not going as regularly but really do we have that much in us. I don't think so. Congrats and good luck. Talk Later Patti

Isn't it wonderful how our whole outlook on life changed in as little as six months. I think we just brim in self confidence and when someone is sure of themselves as we are now, they have an aura around them that others can feel. I never looked people in the eye and now I am the first to make eye contact. You have done great and keep up the work. Isn't it wonderful to not have to go to the plus size clothes!!! I still do and now notice alot of cute clothes..Not fair but I love it. Good job!!

I am 6 months post op, feeling pretty good although I am only down 72 lbs. I am discouraged because I think I should be loosing more. Guess it seems unfair all we put our poor bodies through and not feeling as though I am loosing it right. Iam loosing more hair than weight. I am walking daily, something I couldn't do before. That's great!!!! I don't always know what is a normal amount of food I should be taking in. I have read what others are loosing at this point and am discouraged. I need to see Dr. Ottoman the end of the month, so maybe I will feel better about some things then. I still have alot of unusal stomache pains, don't know if that is common. Other than that I feel good and I have a job at the Art Center now. I don't feel I am calling attention to myself because Iam so over weight that everyone is looking at me. It's all mostly positive. Thank you all for all the questions that are posted , it sure has helped me with some of the same ones I have and needed to hear.
Thank you Eric for contacting me.
