Topic: Alcohol consumption
Hello everyone. This past weekend I was stopped for Driving Under the Influence. I only had a few drinks. I was at a friends Bachelorrette party and was driving home. My question was if anyone feels their body asbsorbs the alcohol differently than a non surgery person. I felt I was fine but the breathlizer (??) said otherwise. It was a very embarrassing moment and I am very responsible of my actions so I will do and take matters into my hands for this to never to happen to me again. Please give me any feedback if you feel or if there is any information out there that would help me understand. Thanks!!!

Topic: RE: Is anyone else feeling like a failure??
hello everyone, I too can relate. I've lost about 110 since my surgery date. Once my body got to about 215 the weight loss stopped. I still continue to exercise but at 3 years out it gets hard to stay encouraged and focussed about excercising. I got dancing twice a week. that keeps me moving too. I do still feel that the surgery has given me a new lease on life, so none of us are failures. It's just get harder. Hang in there. That's what I tell myself. Just keep trying.

Topic: RE: Getting back to the basics
Hi, There is a WLS Grads forum on this website for those 2 years out. It's a good one and they have a "protein train" thing going with how to do it. Good luck. I'm having the same "carb" problem. It's quite usual I'm finding out. Marilyn

Topic: Getting back to the basics
hello out there in WLS land... i have a question...i am 2 years and 5 months out and chowing down on every carb i can get my hands on...bad, bad girl is what i am...when i went to my 2 year check up my surgeon told me to every once and a while get back to the basics to try and maintain my pouch in working order...he recommended going back on liquids for a week and then softs then full, like when i first had my surgery...easy for him to say...liquid diet is very, very difficult...i'm like was it this hard when i first had surgery, hecky yeah!!! i remember crying because my family was eating all the foods i love and i was sipping on gatorade...the problem is that my body is getting a little flabby now and i don't like it one bit!!! has anyone else tried getting back to the basics? how did that work out??? i need to kick up my exercise and get at least 64 ounces of water in me to live...trying to fill myself up and flush the fat...i'm doing the jamba juice smoothies with water and gatorade...wish me luck i survived today (sunday), let's see what tomorrow brings...

No, I can eat more than I think I should be able to. The other day I ate a foot long turkey sub and I was not drinking with it. I felt full, but did not get sick. I see my surgeon on the 19th of Sept.

Sarah, how is it going?? Any developments? I was reading your post and I just wanted to tell you that I think you are doing great. Don't think so hard about what you haven't done, look what you HAVE done - you've LOST 180 and that is NOTHING to sneeze at! Are you still restricted enough? Have you done any specialized diet plans to help jumpstart losing more weight? Kiera Banded 28 April 03 at 299 (320 before that). Lost 70# in just over a year. Maintained that weight for nearly a year because I was trying to conceive, then got pregnant, gained 35# *sigh*. All that is behind me now so I am starting over as of 15 July 05 @ 265 - today I am 255 . Short term goal 220 - long term 165.

Topic: RE: Protein Drinks?
Hi Ethel, I do protein shakes occassionally - it helps with cravings. I have actually put myself back liquids in an attempt to jumpstart my weightloss again. I plan to stay on them until the end of next month - although I am eating very small amounts of "normal" foods to keep my hubby happy (he seems to think I am going starve, lol). Kiera Starting over 15 July @ 265 / 261 short term goal 220 - would like to see 165 eventually.
