Sarah, the weight gain might possibly be due to meds (for your cellulitus or lymphedema), coupled with emotional stress and inactivity. Inactivity coupled with increased caloric intake will result in weight gain. Make a log of EVERYTHING you eat and every activity you have. You'll be surprised at what you are really doing when you recognize it on paper.
Keep pressing on!!! You'll get there!!! Smiles,

Cathy, incorporate walking into your daily activity. While you are standing at the bus stop, walk in place. While you are standing in line at the grocery store, walk in place. While you are brushing your teeth, walk in place. You can find literally hundreds of ways to walk. The key is movement. Keep up the good work and you'll get there. Press on!!!!

I am very proud of myself. As I look at the message board I see people who had different instructions from their doctors. I am still on no carbs until I reach 75% of my goal weight which will be 11 more pounds. I also try to eat just the three meals per day, but I find myself snacking again at night. I luckily snack on sugar free jello, pork rinds, sugar free popsicles. I drink my 64 + oz of water or liquid per day. I dont exercise and I put that as a reason I havent done as well as I should. I bought a bike a few weeks ago, but I just lost my job and might return it because I am broke. I mean 22.00 broke. Luckily I went to the store to buy meals, and for less than 5.00 I got a weeks full of meals. I already had protein drink that I use for midday meal.

My guess is that it could be water retention from the lymphedema, are you on any diretics, to help with this? Also you body may just be resting, and your increased exercise may be building muscle, which weighs more than the fat that it is replacing. Up your protien and water intake and exercising and you will get back on track :0)Congrats on reaching your anual goal:0). Several of us on the Q&A board have stated we are all on platues and we are all at 9-10 months out. I weigh every day and mark it on the calander, and it looks like it doesnt move, but looking back the past month, it always dropped 10 pounds each month. (before the platue). Good luck and enjoy the ride!
Topic: 10 months post-op; 7lb. gain
I ate a lot over the holidays and wasn't as active since I wasn't working or in class. Yet, I still lost 10lbs in November and 10lbs in December. I had reached my goal of being 350 by my annual check-up in January and really wanted to kick it up a knotch and be at 312 or even 302 by my one year anniversary. So I started to excercise more often and more intensely. I did have a bought of cellulitis in my leg mid-Jan and it is still pretty swollen (as both my legs are due to lymphedema). But I still never would have expected a 7lb gain. I could have handled just a couple pounds lost or no change to but a gain. What's up with that?!?!?!

Awww, shucks, Steve. Saw your post this a.m. and just had to reply! And here I was thinking of growing a goatee until I saw it.....
I agree so much with you about having the endoscopy to open the stoma made such a difference for me in those early months.
The thing about the plastics that is keeping me back is the pain from the WLS is still so fresh in my mind that I am still afraid of going back there. Funny with us women that have had children, there was a "built in" mechanism that helped forget the pain, or else we all would only have one child!! Wish WLS had that same "built in" forget after effect!

Topic: RE: I am so depressed.
Hey Gail, don't get depressed try drinking a whey protein drink in the morning it will give you 30 grams of protein and only 120 calories and the other 30 you'll get throughout the day and have less calories. I mix my drink with 3 strawberries and some splenda.
