Topic: RE: Protein Drinks
I don't know if I would qualify them as "best", but I get the whey protein drinks from GNC (chocolate & vanilla) and mix them together and put a generous scoop in water and mix it together in a large glass with my hand mixer (1 blade). I've gotten used to it this way and I take my pills in the morning with this. It's not bad. Kinda creamy. I know its good for me, so I've gotten used to it. I can't handle milk anymore. I can't handle a whole lot of stuff I used to and I can handle foods I never would have put together before. My tea always had to have cream in it. Now, I put lemon in it. Just goes to show what changes can occur. Nothing.......... is unusual these days. Marilyn

Topic: RE: My first plateau I think? Help!!
Hi Robin, I was just going through the posts. I also had the RNY on 4/7/03. It is now 2/26/04 and I have been hitting the junk food (chips and cheetos without the transfats-believe it or not). I was so good on the proteins and it didn't do a thing. I've lost 69/70 pounds depending on the salt I retain, but a strange thing is happening. My weight seems to be "shifting", going more toward the stomach and above. I have to start exercising I know, but I've stalled and really want to get off 25 more pounds. I started at 221 and am now down to 153. It's good, but I'm in a quandry as to how to stop the starches or if it even matters with this type of surgery at this point. Help if you have run into the same problem 10 months out. Thanks. Marilyn "R"

What are the best protein drinks to get. I can't imagine what they taste like. I hate milk. Can you mix it with soda? I got approval from my second doctor today the letters will be off this week for insurance approval. What am I in for?

Lee Keep the faith I know for me there was several times when I would go for a few weeks with little or no loss. I find that I can eat more now then I could even a month ago. I remember that just when I thought I wouldn't loose anymore it would start again. Best of luck!! Andrea

Topic: Daily calories
I'm curious. How many calories are we supposed to be taking in each day? I looked over my notes from the Cori Center and I couldn't find anything listed. I'm sure that carbs are not supposed to be in excess of 25/30 a day, which is low, but which is required to maintain a weight loss. I keep an on-line log as best I can and I reach between 750 and 1100 calories. I've been trying to watch the carbs, as they really stalled my weight loss. Any suggestions or facts would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Diane I am scheduled for tummy tuck/hernia repair and I am going to get my batwings taken off March 5th. I know a lady that had a tummy tuck and was only off work a week. I plan to go back to work 9 days after mine. I am a school teacher and I hope I can come back after spring break. Good luck with your surgery. Brenda Cooper 316/165

Hello AMOS Sisters & Brothers, I truly hope all of you are doing well! What a journey this past year has been,eh? I can hardly believe we are nearly one year post op! Time does fly and how wonderful the time has been. It has been an amazing time of self discovery and change on all levels. I have lost 170lbs this past 10 months and have dropped from 375 to 205. I feel so blessed to have had surgery and to be here with all of you as we stand atop this mountain that we have all conquered together. We are a family bound together by a shared experience that so many hope and wish for, we are fortunate for what we have. I am grateful that I have all of you here and wish you all blessings as we continue on our journeys, you are my angels of comfort!
