Topic: RE: pouch nightmares!
Congrats on your weight loss! Your pouch is bound to stretch some and hunger will return, as far as snacking I do too, if your hungery eat, but make a good choice, 1/2 c sugar free ice cream, pop corn, cheese stick... I read someplace, on here someone dran**** cold water before eating and it helps to constrick the pouch, and you wont want so much. Did you do the cottage cheese test? Some foods I can eat 1 cup, but things like chicken, and beef only a small amount and they take longer to leave the pouch, and are higher in protien. You may be starting on a plateau, you body needs a break from all this loss. just keep your protien up, and you will do fine. Enjoy the ride

Had open WLS on 4/28/04, weighed 504# with a BMI of 68.5....weighed in today at 259#, so have lost 245# and BMI is now 35.2, one year goal by next month is a loss of 1/2 my starting body weight or 252#.....only 7# to go......it is all because I have followed my Dr's advice on diet and exercise, and LOTS of water. Good luck to all on this board-Aloha!
Topic: pouch nightmares!
HI! I am 2 days shy of 11 months.. I am down to 176 .. I feel like the weight loss has stopped! It seems like I can eat more at a sitting and if I get the throw up feel.. nothing comes up. I am also "snacking" at night again.. why I don't know. But the strangest thing is I have had 3 diff nightmares about my pouch getting stretched. Weird I know! The last one my husband woke me up due to I was crying. I dreamed the dr did a test to see the size of my pouch and he told me it was bigger than before surgery!!! These dreams are freaking my out. I am down to a size 14 and I have about 30 or so more pounds to go! I am so scared I am not going to make it to my goal weight! My hair is growing back in and don't want to lose it again! Does any one have some advice?

if you don't like milk I strongly suggest that you try "Nectar-Fuzzy Navel" which I buy through www.bariatriceating.com It's a fruit flavored protein that tastes like oranges/peaches that you mix with water and ice. I have two a day and get the rest of my protein from food. But you know, protein drinks are a very tricky thing-I have tried MANY that others have claimed are their favorites and I thought they tasted like @$$!!! It's a very personal thing-all I can say is keep trying and you'll find one that agrees with your palate! Plus-be aware that what you like pre-op may change as a post-op.

Lisa-
It's so good to hear how much your life has improved since this surgery! Isn't it wonderful to be a participant in life instead or watching from the sidelines? That's my favorite thing about this surgery! All 4 of my children say that I am more fun now than I was before..I thinks it's because I can "play" more with them.
Keep up the good work!

Way to go!!! Doesn't it feel good?!? Keep up the good work. You are right-THERE IS NO EASY WAY OUT OF OBESITY!!! IMHO surgery is the harder way out because you CANNOT undo it!
Best wishes,

I feel so AMAZING. I was 375 at my consult last year, 367 day of surgery and I just got off the scale and I'm offically below 200lbs!! (199) My life is so different. So great. I run, play, roller skate and bike ride with my daughter. It's like a she's got a whole new mom, physically and emotionally. I am finally ME again. I actually had my first date in YEARS a couple weeks ago.............I'm having a blast. I have had no complications or difficulties at all. I think my no-carb diet is what has helped me loose so quickly and steadily. I am still loosing, more slowly but still steady and downward. My goal is 150lbs. I hope to be there or really close by mid summer. This surgery gave me my life back, it's the best thing I could have ever done for myself.
