Wow, Mike, what a handsome person that has emerged from your starting weight. Not that you haven't always looked so good, but just a little more "defined". Bet you might feel that way too. We are all beautiful people just waiting to emerge from our "shell". Good health to you on the rest of your journey. Marilyn R. RNY 4/7/03

Congrats, Erica. You look super. Happy 1st and enjoy the rest. Isn't it great (or maybe not) to walk right past someone and they don't recognize you. I was flabbergasted when this happened to me. I think I look the same, but apparently not. It's fun to see the shocked look on their faces. Keep up the good work and enjoy the rest of your healthy life. I'm 1 year out as of 4/7/04-70+pounds. Topic: My happy 1st anniversary 4/7/04
Hi all, Can't believe the time went so fast. I started out at 227 (with my shoes on being weighed in???). I'm now down 70 + to 152. Feeling great. Getting my mind straighted out regarding carbs. For the first six months, weight came off no matter how many carbs I ate (that's mostly all that would digest, except the protein drinks). Now I have to respect the fact that my honeymoon with them is over. Anyone out there hooked on the starches? Why is it that the craving for a Cheeto is so much more than for a piece of fruit or celery. lol Happy days for us "older" gals and guys. Marilyn Ricard

i was glad to read i wasn't the only one experiancing this type of plateau ..so i will try to remain positive I am one year out and have remained this weight for two months now..still trying to lose an additional 50lbs for my goal..it gets discouraging..but i have decided to increase my physical activity and lay off the carbs..(crackers are my downfall) i mainly eat meat and veggies and since spring has sprung i can't wait to have all the variety of veggies that brings!!

Melissa... u seem to be feeling "convicted" I mean, feeling guilty that u r doing things wrongly... that is the same cycle that makes people eat, regret, eat... Try to talk with someone abt ur feelings towards food now, and ur body... lots of changes have been happening... it can be hard to handle... At this time, u should be able to eat anywhere from 3/4 c. to a little over a cup at a sitting... depending on ur situation... but rather than having a goal or paranoia of being able to eat more, keep focusing on the quality of foods u r eating... carbs r forever out of the equation now, or at least should be... and carbs can get u in the most trouble... once u start getting back on them, it is hard to break that cycle... just like caffeine and sugar addiction... Pls check out the "pouch rules for dummies" on Richard Varney's website... it has lots of useful hints to manage ur pouch even years later... http://rcvarney0.tripod.com/ and a wealth of knowledge on his site... he is a member of the Gastric Bypass Support Group that I attend...
