Gwendolyn, I had my surgery on April 22, 2002. I have lost 82 lbs. also & I am also losing a lot of hair even though I try to uptake my protein intake by supplementing with pre-protein that I buy in the pharmacy. I have seen that my hair loss this wk is only getting a little better, this was worrying me already. The way I seem to get my energy levels up is take all my vitamins religiously, specially the B12, you can get sublinguals at GNC very cheap. Try to have your provider monitor your blood levels at least every 12 months to see if you're supplements are working or you are having malabsorbtion problems. Try to eat very slowly & chew a lot that usually helps me with my food problems, if something disagrees with you still, wait a few months later & try again! I hope this helps you out, God Bless Grisell.

My surgery was 4/22/03 and I started losing my hair 3 weeks ago. It seems to be a normal process but still scares me. I'm being extra careful about getting B12 and protein levels...I've lost 105 lbs but have started slowing down. I keep waitning for something to happen and all the weight to come back. I am loving the smaller sizes but am still a little scared to get rid of my big clothes (went from sizes 28-30 and 4X to 18-20 and 1X). I can eat pretty much anything but occasionally have problems with high fat foods. Probably not good is the fact I can eat sugar and sweets with little or no problems! It's a struggle sometimes not to graze thru the afternoon or evening! Hang in there and keep trying! ...marsha clark

Hi Gwen, I had surgery on 4-14-2003. I too have lost hair...ALL OF IT. Actually, I had alopecia for a few years and about 3 months ago, I began to loose the rest of my hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, you name it. I am down 107 pounds at 6 months post-op. I had problems with energy as well, but my problem stemmed from anemia. Did you have yourself checked out with the surgeon? I am currenlty getting iron replacement therapy and with each session, I feel better. Make sure you continue to take vitamins. Hang in there girl. It's all worth while. From what I understand, the hair comes back (won't for me, but I can laugh about it now), but it does come back. My food intake is much better. WOOOO it was horrible at first. At least now I can eat a small sandwhich (trust me when I say small). You'll be fine hunny. Don't let it get you down. If you need anything, let me know.
