Just wondering...

Hi Rita, Just wanted you to know that like the others said, usually the more you have to lose, the faster you lose it especially in the beginning. And there are also other factors that can add to someone losing more in the beginning. My surgery was 4/3/03 and I have lost a total of 88 pounds (8 pounds right before surgery) but I was sick a lot in the beginning and couldn't eat much, I had a lot of nausea and I still can't eat meat. I also had surgery on my neck (had 2 disks replaced and a metal plate put in my neck) on June 20th and they went through the front of my neck to do it. The surgery made it almost impossible to swallow for several days. It hurt so bad I didn't want to eat or even sip water. I have lost more than some others, but believe me, it hasn't been fun or easy. So please don't get discouraged, you are doing great and it sounds as if you have had no problems. Your weight will continue to drop and that is the important thing - not how long it takes us to get there, but that we DO GET THERE! God Bless! Pamela

Don't fret Rita you are doing great. 53 pounds in 10 weeks!! Everyone is different. I myself have lost 105 pounds and plateaued 2 weeks ago, not an ounce, but I know this will pass. I think you are right on track. Just think it is 53 pounds, and where you be if you did not have the surgey? If anything like me I would have been 20 lbs heavier. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Hey Rita - At 10 weeks, your weight loss seems on the high side to me. That's about where I was at 10 weeks. I had my surgery April 8th - 13 weeks - and I'm now down 69 pounds. Different docs, web sites and other WLS people say different things. I consider my weight loss pretty rapid, though I was a "lightweight", too (started at 280). I'd say you're right on track or even a little better! Good luck! - juliet

Wow! Most of you are losing faster than I am. I had my surgery 4/21 and am down 48 lbs. I'm okay with that, though! I feel wonderful.

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I had surgery on 4-22. At 5'7'' & 289 lbs ( I too was considered a light weight.) That still cracks me up!! LOL!! I have lost 50 lbs as of 6-30 & I am currently on my third plateau. I have had one each month for 9 to 12 days. Then, once it breaks.... I drop 5 lbs in a couple of days.... So..... It's all good! The way I see it, I am due for another 5 lb drop! HEHE! Peace out!
