Topic: Surgery Yesterday
...and I'm ready to go home. :)
Surprisingly I'm not really in pain, just a little achy in my back and ribs. (Hopefully that won't change when I'm off the morphine.) I have a bit of discomfort in my shoulders from the gas, I'm sure. I guess the only thing I can gripe about is how weak I am. It'll pass. :)
My surgery was almost 5 hours!! Apparently I had a small hiatal hernia that had to be repaired. I had no idea. At least it was small.
I had my first ice chips about 30 minutes ago and they were like a taste of heaven. haha. I can't wait to brush my teeth and shower. If everything goes well, I'll be going home tomorrow evening. Not looking forward to the 5 hour ride home...but I think it will be okay.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hope everyone is doing well. :)

I had my surgery on 3/10 as well.
Unlike most of the other respondents so far, I might not have as mu*****ommon lifestyle wise (i.e. - male, 40, no kids) but I am interested in how people from around the same surgery date are progressing.
I think I've been lucky so far that I haven't had much in the way of complications, other than an infection in my incision that my doctor considers minor, but that I consider less so. - having to dress it and deal with it every day. But I do wonder how I am faring in relation to where I should be.

Topic: My Apologies to Lisa at Synergy Bariatrics in Buffalo Ny
A few weeks ago I wrote a post about Lisa at Synergy messing things up for my Lap Band procedure, that she didn't return phone calls, etc. I would like to apologize for what I said because after speaking to the office staff, it turns out she never got the messages or would have called me back. I am sorry for everything that happened and for posting it on the Internet instead of talking to her in person. The Dr and staff at Synergy are committed to weight loss and improving peoples lives, are extremely dedicated and helpful. Again, I want to apologize to Lisa and everyone there for my actions. Dr Pham is my surgeon and I am looking to my surgery and for my journy to begin.

Congratulations on your surgery! I just had mine as well on March 8, 2010. It seems my surgeon's diet is different from a lot of other's as I am already on soft solids, although I am sticking with mostly softs still as it doesn't settle well. I am already 34 lbs down in 3 weeks.
I am looking forward to shopping at regular stores instead of online, like you-buying from victorias secret, and going down a waterslide with my beautiful 3 year old son this summer.

Topic: RE: Numbness
Thanks for the responses, I have 2 week post op appointment on Tuesday. I'll follow up with my surgeon. I suppose it could be a pinched nerve but I don't have any aches or pains anywhere else.
Topic: surgery 03/25..trouble getting in and out of bed
I had my surgery on 03/25 and came home yesterday. Lastnight was awful. Even with the help of my husband I really struggled getting in and out of bed. I was so sore but I had been drinking so much fluid that I was having to go to the bathroom every 2-3 hours. Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? Should I just sleep in a chair? any advice is appreciated! thanks!

Just wanted to add that I agree, you may want to talk to a healthcare professional about the numbness you are experiencing! I hope it subsides soon for you!

Hey! I joined this board looking for friends like you! Someone around my age/surgery date that understands my lifestyle! I am 24 years old with one little girl, trinity, she is 15 months old. I just had surgery on 03/25th so I am still pretty fresh on the post-op team. You can add me on facebook or we can chat here. My name on facebook is Shonda Clements! I can't wait to meet new people that are on the same path that I am!
Topic: RE: Home, trying to survive my first 24 hours lol
wow, they only kept you at the hospital for a day? I have/had gas pains as well. It is my biggest complaint post-op so far (my surgery was thursday) The things that I have found that help are walking..lots of walking- it will get your bowels up and running and once you start tooting it will start feeling lots better- and burp..don't hold it in! sounds gross but it really does help! Oh, and gas-x the chewable kind! Those really help me! I wish you luck and hope your pain eases soon!
Topic: RE: Who?s surgery is this week?!?!?
Mine was Thursday, so I am a few days post-op. Hats off to Detj! No way could I do a stationary bike right now, I am still having trouble getting up and down in the chair.
