Glad to hear you are doing ok Susan. I start the liquid diet two weeks prior to surgery so I'm sure I'll be sick of it but I guess it's all part of it. I really like hearing how people that have been thru it are doing too. Best of luck to you and keep in touch.

I had just had my RNY on the 15th of February and don't have an angel. I am not having much pain , but the liquid diet if awful. You aren't necessarily hungry, but stuff is so bland and having to do it for two day before surgery makes it seem longer. I am sure you will do great and if you know other people who have had it done please tell them I would love to talk to them. I crave info from people who have been through it. Let me know how you are doing.
Thank you

Hello everyone. I'm scheduled for a VSG on March 16th. If there is anyone here from Philadelphia who's had a positive experience they'd like to share with me about Pennsyvania Hospital and their surgery, I'd love to hear about it!
I'm excited and scared at the same time.
I'm also happy to have found this site for support.
Thanks!
K

Topic: RE: Hospital Stay
I've been told to bring minimal stuff to the hospital. Since most are in the hospital for only a day or so you don't need much. From what I understand you will either be sleeping, walking or visiting with the dietitian or surgeon. I have been advised to only bring chap-stick, good slippers for walking and comfy clothes to come home in.

You can do it. At least you are not on a liquid diet.

I feel your pain. I am on my 2nd day of the liquid diet. It is hard.
Some tips friends have given me that seem to help:
putting sugar free popicles in a bowl and eating them with a spoon.
Another friend gave me a tip that hot liquids help and he is very right. As long as I am siping a hot tea I am not craving food.
nother friend told me to eat snowcones so I used my ice shaver and DaVinci sugar free syrup and had that as a snack and it really helped.
And of course don't forget you can have jello.
Best wishes.
