Topic: RE: Two week countdown...
Hey everyone!
My two week countdown starts today and I'm so excited! I'm sick at the moment, so I'm trying to get rid of this head cold/sinus infection so I'll be better for my final surgical clearance on Friday. I'm getting Lap Band done and am a little worried about how I'll deal with a cold in the future. I've been surviving on antibiotics and ibuprofen. I know I won't be able to take the ibuprofen after surgery. I'll just have to deal another way!
I start my liquid diet 48 hours before surgery, and am thinking of things I can eat prior. I've been doing alot of planning because I've realized through my classes that "failing to plan is planning to fail"
As the time is getting closer, I'm wondering how much pain will be involved. Not so much with the exercise and pushing myself, just the whole incision and recovery pain. I've had my knee reconstructed, tonsills and wisdom teeth taken out. I'm just curious.
I'm slightly nervous, but overall thrilled. Excited to go bathing suit shopping for the first time LOL I won't go until I'm a few months out and a couple of sizes down, but yea, actually looking forward to the summer this year!

Good luck with your upcoming surgery!! I had RNY in 2001 and have never regretted it. Follow DR orders...especially during first six months. It's not a "fast and easy" solution...you know that...it's a new lifestyle. Bless you and your surgeon.

Good Luck on your upcoming sugery! I had RNY in 2001 and have never, ever regretted it. Follow Doctor's orders...especially in the first six months. Important to keep the "pouch" happy and teaching self new skills.
I was a size 26 when I had surgery (5'6" - 287 lbs) and today I am a size 6 and usually weigh around 135.
Such a blessing. Sending you best wishes and healing light!

Topic: March 8 Surgery
Hi,
I am new to the board. My surgery is March 8th. I had my pre-op hospital and upper GI testing done already and I am having my surgeon pre-op appointment on Thursday.

I was playing a game with my six year old where I was hiding a slinky around the living room and he was looking for it. I put it on my wrist like a bracelet knowing it would give him a laugh. Anyway, he was looking and looking and couldn't find it, so I said "notice anything different about me?" he said, "well, you're getting smaller, but what does that have to do with my slinky?"
I scooped him up in the biggest hug ever and covered him in kisses and tears. I have lost a little over 20 pounds in the last couple of months getting ready for surgery, but I honestly didn't know that anyone could tell. I'm so happy!
