Topic: RE: Surgery on the 22nd of March/Pre-Op Diet
What are you drinking? I didn't have much of a liquid diet requirement pre or post op, but I used the recommended protein meal replacements and soups for the most part.
Did you just cut off a pop/high sugar habit, or a caffeine habit? Both of those can send you in withdrawls that can show up as headaches.

Good luck!! What kind of protein drinks do you have? The ones I use aren't all that bad.
I'm 2 weeks post surgery and I too wouldn't look back.

Topic: Anemic
So I had my pre-op today for my surgery which is March 21st. Eveything was great, but my surgeon called bc is concerned with me being anemic. Anyone else had that issue??? Will I have to postpone??? Ugghhhh! I know he is only being careful and safe, and i'm sure its important since he did call me himself; but I just want to get this over and done with! I know I am wrong....Anyone with this issue??? What did you have to do??? He suggested calling my PCP and seeing what he has to say. I have been anemic since my daughter was born 11 years ago. I haven't had any other issues with it other than the occasional ice cravings and usually eat beans to build my levels up again... I have never taken medication for it.
Topic: RE: Now its March 24th
I got scheduled for the 24th as well. I am a bit nervous, but am glad I don't have to do the liquid pre-diet.....
Where are you having yours done and what are you geting?

Thanks to all the wonderful responders! I have been at home for 5 days with the stomach virus from hell. To add insult to injury, I came down with it during the first hour of my pre-op class. It was not pretty. I could not even hold down ice chips for the first 3 days and told my husband if he loved me, he'd shoot me. Fortunately, he didn't listen.
That said, it gave me a taste of what i'll be facing soon as I sipped water and sucked ice chips just trying to get moisture in my body. I lost 14 pounds.
Chapstick is a must along with unscented moisturizer. My skin got OLD looking without moisture. Other than that, I have slippers, robe and comfy pj's for coming home in. The pillow is a must also -- learned that after gallbladder surgery and I have the same one from then.
I'll have to admit, I have reconsidered this choice more than once as I lay in misery but I still believe I'm doing the right thing. It's going to be hard but what isn't?

Topic: Two weeks
Since my surgery is on the 29th, I've got two weeks to go. Between now and then I've got two weeks of a liquid diet (13 days left), and one day of nothing but clear liquids until my surgery.
I'm not going to complain about my liquid diet. Okay, maybe one complaint: the shakes have a really awful aftertaste. But seriously, I've eaten things with much worse flavors, with a lot more calories, and with no reason at all. This isn't awful, and it's going to help my body get ready for surgery. It's just two weeks of my life, and I know it's not that big of a deal. :)
Anybody else sliding in to home base yet? I can't believe how fast this month is flying by! This is one amazing ride.
