Congrats on your approval

I was able to get 2 weeks off without pay. Any chance you could get some additional time off without pay if needed? I'm sure your surgeons office would provide something to your employer if neccesary.

I had two weeks off I just went back to work last thursday. I would have liked 3 weeks but I couldn't do it.

Topic: Results of 3 week post op

I met with the RD, PA and Surgeon today for my 3 week post op.

My wonderful RD said it's time to start with small portions of fruits and veggies after the protein of course. She said it might be only 3-4 grapes or a small piece of lettuce with tuna but that is fine I miss my veggies!

She also said I should be getting some carbs with my protein. I have been making getting my protien supplement from non-flavored unjury in 16 oz of crystal light. I haven't found a protein shake recipe that really appeals to me yet but I am sill looking. Anyone have a good reciepe to use with vanilla protein.. ?

PA and surgeon and happy with my loss so far and so am I. 20 pounds and counting! They said most people lose between 10-30 the first three weeks. I am having frequent headaches and they ran some blood tests to see if my blood sugar could be the problem. I was NOT diabetic before surgery but did need to get insulin after surgery while I was in the hospital.

My 20 pounds has not been without effort I am walking 45 minutes every day and it feels great!

How is everyone else doing??

Hi there, I had my band surgery on 3/2.  I so know what you're talking about with the uncomfortable moments.  I have horses and hate the looks that I get when I'm working with them.  We also have ATV's and I'm not the nimblest one out there if ya get my drift.  I can't wait to get back into competition with my horses, once again buy clothes from regular stores.. ahh, I can't wait!

Topic: RE: Surgery 3/16-Pain
I had surgery on 3/15 and last took pain med the morning of the 17th. Besides not being able to stand the taste, I haven't felt the need for them. I've been getting in my proteins, fluids and the gas pain is finally starting to go away. My belly is itching but I know it just means it's healing. I've been getting extremely hungry, and am thinking I need a fill already. I'm ok in the am, but by evening and night, my stomach is growling, and gurgling. I've had a little more than just liquids to help subside this till I see the dr tomorrow, but nothing I think would be real damaging. (cottage cheese, small amount of meat sauce, potato soup, small amounts of apple sauce) Now that I think of it, I probably should have made an appt to see him last week when I started to feel so ravenous. I had a hernia repair as well when I had my Lap Band done.

Hi Lily,

I understand about the fear of death, I would be lying if I said that it has not crossed my mind. You are not crazy! I think these are normal thoughts. I have had a few surgeries before for other things and it always has crossed my mind. Just keep believing that you will be ok, never knock the power of positive thinking! I will keep you in my thoughts, we will be FINE. Lets keep in touch and we can laugh at how silly we were.

Topic: RE: Had my surgery March 2nd!
hey
congrats on the loss!
i had my surgery on 3/3/10 and according to my home scale i'm down 18lbs!
im eating soft/pureed food and crackers/toast.
i had severe complications (twisted bowel) that required emergency surgery on mach 4th, and due to the complications i am quite far back in my physical recovery.  this surgery left me with a g-tube in my old stomach (which i hope will be removed in 1-2 weeks)
i am currenty walking 10 minutes 1-2 times a day, a few times i have gone 20 mins when i needed to get groceries.
i am physically not allowed to really do anything, i just started driving, but im not allowed to walk too much or lift more than 10lbs.
good luck
jen
