Congrats on your approval
I was able to get 2 weeks off without pay. Any chance you could get some additional time off without pay if needed? I'm sure your surgeons office would provide something to your employer if neccesary.
I had two weeks off I just went back to work last thursday. I would have liked 3 weeks but I couldn't do it.
I met with the RD, PA and Surgeon today for my 3 week post op.
My wonderful RD said it's time to start with small portions of fruits and veggies after the protein of course. She said it might be only 3-4 grapes or a small piece of lettuce with tuna but that is fine I miss my veggies!
She also said I should be getting some carbs with my protein. I have been making getting my protien supplement from non-flavored unjury in 16 oz of crystal light. I haven't found a protein shake recipe that really appeals to me yet but I am sill looking. Anyone have a good reciepe to use with vanilla protein.. ?
PA and surgeon and happy with my loss so far and so am I. 20 pounds and counting! They said most people lose between 10-30 the first three weeks. I am having frequent headaches and they ran some blood tests to see if my blood sugar could be the problem. I was NOT diabetic before surgery but did need to get insulin after surgery while I was in the hospital.
My 20 pounds has not been without effort I am walking 45 minutes every day and it feels great!
How is everyone else doing??
I also had my surgery on 3/2 and I'm down about 17 pounds. I just started back at the gym last night, so getting back into the groove of exercise.
Let's :)
I will check in to say hi (and wish you good luck) tomorrow afternoon from Mexico.

I understand about the fear of death, I would be lying if I said that it has not crossed my mind. You are not crazy! I think these are normal thoughts. I have had a few surgeries before for other things and it always has crossed my mind. Just keep believing that you will be ok, never knock the power of positive thinking! I will keep you in my thoughts, we will be FINE. Lets keep in touch and we can laugh at how silly we were.
Teresa ((hugs))
I am traveling with husband. We are leaving MI early tomorrow. Left kids with my sister today and I am very very nervous.
I am hoping everything will go fine....I am very afraid of death...I know, crazy....can't help it.....
Let me know how everything went with you.....

congrats on the loss!
i had my surgery on 3/3/10 and according to my home scale i'm down 18lbs!
im eating soft/pureed food and crackers/toast.
i had severe complications (twisted bowel) that required emergency surgery on mach 4th, and due to the complications i am quite far back in my physical recovery. this surgery left me with a g-tube in my old stomach (which i hope will be removed in 1-2 weeks)
i am currenty walking 10 minutes 1-2 times a day, a few times i have gone 20 mins when i needed to get groceries.
i am physically not allowed to really do anything, i just started driving, but im not allowed to walk too much or lift more than 10lbs.
good luck
