Topic: Did everyone get presurgery meds?
I hear a lot of talk on here of medication that needs to be taken before surgery. I didn't get anything from my doctor. I am having the RNY gastric bypass. I don't know if that makes a difference. He gave me a list of things to do but no medications. Should I call him today? My surgery is Tuesday. Anyone know?

Hi
I agree..all the hard work done before surgery made all the difference after surgery.  I came home Tuesday and after greeting all the dogs, promptly went to sleep LOL  The Hospital is not a place to get rest...being woke up every 2 hours for vitals, walking every 2 hours or more often....home never looked or felt so good. Congratulations and welcome to the Loser's Bench ^_^

Wow..congratulations Emily.  I sure hope I get those kind of results when I see my doc on the 9th for follow up appt after surgery.  If I do, I'm med free!!  Keep up the great work and work that tool!

hi Lori,
You are so right on on all your points!  My surgery was last Monday, the 16th..I woke up to nausea and dizziness...as soon as I got up walking and doing laps around the nurses station, all that cleared up.  The breathing machine also helped to get the anesthesia out of my system..still using it at home to keep the lungs clear...fluid tends to build up if I don't and I need to cough instead.  I really appreciate your comments regarding pain meds; I'm one of those afraid of using too much. thanks for the reassurance that need because of pain is not the same as a beginning addiction!  the only thing missing from your list is for after surgery:  sip sip sip walk walk walk LOL
Thanks again for the great advice

My surgery was the day before you. Sorry to hear you had a blood clot. How scarey. I had my left lung collapse and I was in the hospital for 6 days. It was really stinky. I am doing great now though. I am losing a lot so I am happy about that.
