(sorry I'm soo late with getting back to you!!)

I'm doing great! My energy level is going up each day...which is great because I was really tired there for a while. My post op diet was, liquids for the first week....then to purees (for 3 weeks, however in that time I can add in foods).

I'm doing well with getting my protein and liquids in.....it's still hard to find room to want to eat along with everything else!

How are you making out? Good I hope!

Best of luck!

try using a straw, it helps from gulping but still gives you the right amount of water!

Topic: Breakfast food???

Im finally on the soft food stage in my diet and was told i could have oatmeal.  I went out and got a whole box of sugar-free (maple/brown sugar flavor) and it is sooo gross!!! Has anyone tried the "Low-Sugar" Quaker Oatmeal??  Is it too much sugar and did you have any problems digesting it? I want to try it to see if it tastes better than the SF, but im a little nervous about the sugar.  Im so sick of cream of wheat and eggs, I want variety!!!

Topic: RE: 10 days and nothing lost
I am doing the same thing  My RNY was last Weds and I gained. almost 9 back after surgery and have only lost about 8 and I lost 25 before surgery.   But I found this on one of the post in the past and I keep it so I can understand what is happening when I plateau     I hope this helps

Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet.

As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a sabertooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.

Topic: RE: 8 days out- are you driving?
I am on day 6 and hoping to drive into town for one small errand today.

I've been off meds except at bedtime and only a half dose then.  I was feeling grand until yesterday, I think my body finally realized I had surgery and let me know it was time to slow down.  Today I feel fine, not as great as Saturday felt, but definately better.

Slow has a whole new meaning now doesn't it?

I was someone who walked at a snappy pace when I went to the store or at work.  Now I leave for my walks at a slow and leisurely pace, and by the time I get home I feel like I'm walking through molasses!

I'll let you know how my trip goes!!
