My hair has continued to fall out. I started taking zinc and biotin 2 weeks ago and it hasn't done anything yet and today I shelled out $40 for the Nioxin. I have always had thick hair, so I felt I had some to loose, but now I can't imagine having thinner hair. I'm hoping I'm almost done with this phase...How long is this suppost to last?

I find visiting this forum with my fellow Marchers very helpful   But this Hair loss has me feelijng very unhapy and very ugly ....I did not loose 70 pounds to look ugly but I do.....

Does anyone know when it might start growing back...I feel like Iam older then I am and just not attractive anymore.   Even at my highest I always felt somewhat attractive but this is unnerving.

My RNY was March 25.  I had my 3 month check with surgeon & dietitian today.   I am losing slowly and that is frustrating.  I am finally in onderland and that is great.  My pouch is not liking dense protein, so I still eat eggs , Greek yogurt, cheese, beans, ground beef,  etc.   I will keep trying meat.

I get my fluids, protein, supplements all in, no problem.  I get full easy, don't have much appetite and get nauseated after protein supplements.

Hair is some and I'm taking Biotin and upping protein to 100 gm.  My exercise has increased and I'm doing well.

Down 3 sizes and arthritis in knees is much better.  Mostly want to lose the weight faster - but will keep on keeping on.

I was only told there are better choices than corn, but not to never have it.  I have had it in a couple of things since surgery/  I just make sure I chew it extra well, because I know I didn't digest it that well before, so of course I wouldn't do so now either.

I had my surgery on March 31st, so almost 3 full months now.  I am losing slowly, but at least I am losing and I understand it better now that I know I am hypothyroid (just began meds) and my metabolism is shot because my body hasn't been utilizing all the protein I have been taking in and instead my levels were low (I was already doing minimum of 70g and had days I made it up as high as 100) which was making my body use my lean muscle mass instead of letting me build it.  I have begun to lose a bit better since I began the thyroid meds and have upped my protein to a minimum of 100g and goal of 120g.
I am excited to say that I now am a weight I haven't been down to in about 13 years!  I was up to 26/28 (mostly wore elastic so didn't know exact size) and I am now wearing 24's and some 22's.  I am wearing a pair of 24 jean shorts right now that I couldn't wear in early March, and now they are getting close to being too big :-).  I am having to get rid of most of my old clothes and have gotten 22's and 24 hand me downs from another in my local support group.
I can tolerate most food, but know to have whole wheat small round bread thingies (sorry, forgot the name of them) that I toast and prefer only half of it on the bottom as an open face sandwich.  I also lay off noodles and rice for the most part because I don't find any reason to feel full even faster because I wasted the space on one of them.  My favorite things include a 2 egg white omelet with cheese and chicken breast, as well as sams club rotisserie chicken.  The breasts on those are so nice and moist!
I need to get more exercise in, have to find a way to do it in the house more, though, because I still hate heat and summer is definitely here with our temps always in the 90's.

I had my 3 month chechup with my nutritionist and she found out my body is not showing all the protein I am taking in (which was between 70 and 100g a day) and my levels are low.  She has me now doing more than 100g a day, actually told me to up it to 120 a day, but I am still working on that.  It explained well to me why my hair began falling out around the 2 month mark...well that plus my thyroid being out of whack, so I am now on synthroid as well.

I am freaking out over the hair loss too. I am loosing lots of hair every day. I get all my protien in, but I am not going to take biotin. Everyone I have talked to said they get new hair growth in unwanted places.......Yikes. Hopefully our hairloss will slow down soon.

I had my surgery 03/03/09 and am down 71 pounds since the date of surgery.  I have had one problem after another but hopefully things will start to pick up.  I have had 2 strictures and an ulcer.  Just this past Tuesday I was dialated so hopefully the stricture is gone forever.  I find that I have to eat extremely slow and very tiny bites.  I cannot eat any red meat or raw vegetables.  I love the feeling of dropping froma size 28 pants to a size 20 and still moving down but sometimes I still regret having the surgery, suppose because of all the problems.  Looking forward to feeling "normal" again.
Its good everyone is moving along.  Lets keep up the ride.  Good luck to us all.

I am 15 weeks out and down 43# since surgery and down 55 # from initial weigh in pre-op.  I seem to lose lately at about an average of 2# per week.  I am doing well on my exercising 4-8 X per week--but not meeting my goal of 10 X week.  I am still on 2 protein shakes per day and am eating 1-2 oz meat at meals depending on the density plus 1/4 C fruit.  I have not gotten any food STUCK for a while--when I do, it seems to be from eating too fast or not chewing well enough.  I don't tolerate breads and haven't tried  rice.  I have not dumped, but the only sugar I've had is one spoon of a dessert sometime last month.  I guess I don't want to know if I will dump--in case I don't.  I was heading into a size 16 and wearing an XL shirt before surgery.  I am now in 8-10 pants and a M shirt.  So far my hair has not fallen out.  I'm not at a healthy BMI yet but am off diabetic, cholesterol and blood pressure meds.  I am feeling good and seem to have a lot of energy.

I heard about the hair loss and thought I was doing well.  I've got fine hair anyway, but the other day I went to comb some wind blown snarls out of my hair and could not belive what was happening!!  It was almost coming out in clumps, long clump strands, not the usual shedding.  I bought the Biotin to start immediately, but really concerned how much I'll lose before this kicks in and help prevent or regrow any hair.
I'm almost thinking Rogaine for Women that's how scary this is!!
Very nervous about this as well.  Wondering should I get my hair cut some.  Anything anyone heard better than taking the Biotin?
