My doctor requires we start Optifast (protein shakes) for a month prior to surgery. This helps to reduce the size of the liver and helps us to lose the 8 -10% of our excess body weight which is also required at my dr's. It not only helps with those things, but gets you ready for eating small meals frequently through the day.
I won't lie though, it is tough. I am on day 5 of the liquid diet and it is hard!

I have a date!!! I will be in silver Cross Hospital with Dr. Brian Lahmann as my surgeon on March 23!! I will be having a revision surgery as I had open RNY in March of 2001. Lost 150+ but have gained back about 60 over the last 3 years or so. Now I have to try to carry on like normal knowing how excited I am for the date to hurry up and get here.

yes everyone St. Patrick's Day is also my surgery date. My re-birth, my new life, my healthier life, freedom!!! I am so excited and i cant wait to be on the losing side!

I'm not exactly sure what the liver diet is persay, but I know my physician is having me do two weeks of protein shakes / clear liquids before my surgery date to shrink my liver and kinda cleanse things. Let me know if you want more details and I can send you what I have.

I'm counting too!! Believe me, I'm counting too!!!! hahaha I can't wait either WOOHOO!!!! 30 days!!!! Have you got your pre-op appointment set yet? I called today & he told me to call back on Friday-- that guy is NO help at all!!

That great..that we can keep in touch...I have been busy getting my Spring cleaning done..Painting..washing walls...trying to stay busy...really looking forward to this ..Yes I am nervous also....but so excited..that when I open my pool in June...I won't be all covered up in a granny sack...LOL..Take Care....hugs to you...Bev..

RNY....I am so excited. But I am so nervous that it is only 3 weeks from today. I have my bags packed all my shopping done. All my bills paid up so I dont have to worry about anything. I would love to keep in touch. I am happy I located someone with the same date I have....I am not online much but I will keep my site updated.
