Topic: RE: anyone have to lose weight before surgery?
Yes, my insurance required a 6 month physician supervised weight loss program, or 3 months seeing both my PCP and a dietician monthly, and documenting exercise, nutrion, diet, weight, and behavioral modification techniques. I followed the 3 month cycle, and using the dietician's recommendations, I lost about 26 pounds. Although my surgeon prefers that you lose SOME weight before surgery, he doesn't really give you a target number of pounds. Most surgeons would like to see you lose 10% if possible, because it reduces the problem of fatty liver being in the way while they operate. But... giving you only 3 weeks to lose 13 pounds doesn't seem fair to me!!!

Good luck with your up coming surgery. I'm right behind you on March 9th for my sleeve. I have all those feeling too. I'm going to miss food ... ... But I know I'm going to love what I feel after surgery. I'm so ready to be health. To do things I wouldn't or couldn't before. It's going to be hard but you can do it!!! Best of luck next week

Congrats. I know how excited you are. I was on top of the moon when I got that close. I am now a week and a half post op. Feeling better. The first week will be rough, but totally worth it. Here is an angel to watch over you. God Bless.

Topic: RE: Open RNY (March 23rd) Anyone else
HI Cheryl,
I am having open RYN on March 24th. My doctor only does this type of surgery because he said he sees more problems with the lap. I am so excited but the time till the actual day seems to be taking forever to get here. I have been so busy getting ready to be out of work for a while that I have not even thought about being scared or nervious yet.
how are you dealing?
