Erika,
Good luck! My RNY is also March 2! Here's hoping our surgery, as well as all the other March 2'ers, have a safe, uneventful, complication-free surgery!

Topic: RE: liver diet???
Well I ended up getting some Nutrimed from a friend who had lapband last year. What she gave me is a little more than a 2 weeks supply so that's what I'm using now. So far it's not too bad other than I felt a little shaky this morning. After I ate though I was fine.
Thanks again for all the help!

Topic: RE: Liquids and pre op
I've been on a "modified" post-op diet for nearly 5 months now... and I've lost nearly 30 pounds. My surgeon doesn't require a two week liquid diet... I'm not sure I could survive it. I start my clear liquid diet at Midnight Friday night, and my surgery is at 12:30 p.m. Monday.... I'm so excited!!!

Jen -
My doc gives us a choice of Optifast or Slimfast 3 times a day for 2 weeks pre-op in addition to clear liquids. Slimfast is MUCH CHEAPER - and often major retailers have their own brand.

Hi Marcy!!!
I'll be joining you on that date also, here in Denver at Rose Medical Center! This has been quite a journey for me, as I'm sure it has been for you.... but I look forward to Monday as the beginning of my new life, my second chance.... and this time, I'm not going to blow it. I've worked too hard to get approval, to lose weight in advance of the surgery, and to jump through all those interminable hoops the insurance company puts in front of you. I'm so happy for you, and for me, and for all of us... and want to offer you my congratulations and best wishes. May your recovery be easy, and your new life radiant!
Blessings,
Erica

Topic: No date yet, but praying for March!
Hi all -
Just waiting for insurance approval and for a date to be set! I have a good feeling about getting approved, just no idea how long to expect it to take. I've heard anywhere from 3 days to 6 weeks with my insurance company. It's only been a couple of days, but I'm already feeling very anxious!

Topic: RE: Open RNY (March 23rd) Anyone else
Thank-you both for answering my post, may I add the two of you to my friends list? I really think having someone to talk to as you go through this is very important, and it's nice to make new friends.
As far as the surgery goes I have been busy working so I haven't had much time to think about it. Right now it doesn't seem quite real to me that I will be having the surgery in less then a month. I think it seemed more real to me when I was going through everything to get approved for insurance.
I will be watching for you.....

I have been on my liquid diet for 8 days now!! I nfeel like eating my arm!! My surgery is scheduled for March 4th so only 6 days to go!! I don't have my pro-op until 2 days prior to my surgery. I wish I could have what you guys get!! I can only have 4 high protein slim fast shakes and 1 meal bar per day for two weeks!!!! I CANNOT have any other food only water, crystal light, and other no calorie drinks!! I wish I could have meat and veggies!!! I just try to keep myself busy by going to the gym and cleaning my house!! I figure if I do it really good right now then after my surgery it won't fall apart as fast!! Good luck, Emily!!! I feel your pain, just remember its going to be sooooooo worth it in a few days!!!! Keep me updated on you progress!! I will add you to my friends list, if thats okay!! -Layne
Topic: Lap RNY this coming Monday, March 2nd!
I just wanted everyone to know how excited I am that Monday only 4 days away! On Monday, I will begin my new life... I will have a second chance to be healthy and eat only what my body needs, not what my head thinks it needs. I feel like this surgery is going to be for me what antabuse is for alcoholics.... it will remind me that over-eating is no longer an option, and that certain unhealthy foods are also no longer options for me. I have worked long and hard for this opportunity, and studied, researched and educated myself. I feel ready and good about this, and am not nervous at all. I hope all the rest of you have a good experience and are not nervous about beginning this new phase of your life... You've chosen LIFE and HEALTH... Blessings to us all!
