Topic: RE: We made it 6 months!
well glad to see you all are doing good with the losses.
I have lost 83 lbs and it seems like my prgress has slowed way down though.
i only have like 30 more lbs to go but in the last month i have only lost 3 lbs.
Any suggest would be great.
is the the last bit the hardest?
I have no complaints as far as loosing the amount i have so far. in fact i am very thankful.
i have went from a 22w 3x to a m/l and 8-10.... but i still need to loose the weight around the mid
section.

Topic: RE: stalls
I, too, have stalled. I've been losing/regaining the same 5lbs for the past month or so. It is frustrating, but considering the grand scheme of things, I am very grateful for my total weight loss (93 since weigh-in, 70 since surgery).
I try to think of it this way....it took me a long time to put on and maintain the weight, it's going to take a while to get it off. I look at this "stall" as a time where my loose skin has a chance to catch up with my weight loss and tighten up a bit!
As for strategies to break the stall....keeping a food diary to limit overeating is a tactic that seems to work (if one follows through with writing everything down); Substituting low-cal for full-cal - i.e. fat free half-n-half for full fat half-n-half, fruit instead of candy, etc.; Getting a bit more (any) exercise, i.e. taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Don't forget the progress you have already made! Good luck to all!

Topic: RE: We made it 6 months!
Congrats to all my fellow 6 monthers! I have my check up on Oct 20 I had to reschedule, so we'll see what my bloodwork looks like then. As far as my weight loss I have lost 115lbs and I wear a size 16-18 now. My weight loss is slowing down and I'm okay with that. Time to kick it into gear!! Glad to see everyone is doing well!

Surgery date: 3/17/09
Height: 5' 6"
Starting Weight: 295
Surgery Weight: 273
Current Weight: 207
Weight lost: 88 lbs since pre-surgery, 66 since surgery
Top Size: 14/16
Pants size: 14, still wearing 16's too but they are getting too big really
Starting BMI: 47.6
Current BMI: 33.4
We're all getting there, even if it's slowly...I think it's best to just think of where we were when we started and how we feel now. Being a slower loser usually only worries me when I gain weight in a week or when I worry about getting to goal. Talking to other slower losers has helped too. Keep up the great work everyone!

74 lbs is unfreakingbelievable. How many other diets/exercise plans would have allowed you to experience roughly a 10 lb/mo weight loss average??
Have you tried really bumping up your protein? I know we had diff surgeries but I had a 2 month stall and was ready to pull my hair out. Last week I ate more carbs than normal, this week I've cut them down considerably and am really loading up on protein. I think it's given my body enough of a shake up to start losing again. Maybe that's what your body needs... a shake up of some sort.

Thanks Mary....those are definitely words of wisdom:
"Bottom line is, we're not in a race. We're in it for life. It just takes a little longer for some of us, but we'll get there!"
Keep up the good life work! :-)

I'm very happy to be where I am. I workout pretty strenuously 4-5x a week. I feel more energetic than I have in years! I'm still trying to "see" myself in my new body, but like others it still doesn't really register. I still automatically go to the Women's section in the store even though most of the stuff is just too big at this point. It's weird that our brains haven't caught up. People stop me constantly to ask if I'm still planning on losing more weight - duh! I'm still over 200 lbs! LOL!
Bottom line is, we're not in a race. We're in it for life. It just takes a little longer for some of us, but we'll get there! :o)
