Wow, I can't believe how close to having surgery I am. March 20th I start my new life!
This whole liquid diet is starting to get hard and I'm only on day 3... Oh well the benefit
in the end will be SOOOO worth it! Hope all other March people are doing well and those
that have had surgery are also doing great and have a good recovery!

Topic: RE: Tuesday is almost here!!!
I've been thinking of you all day. Each time a thought comes across my mind of you, I smile because my sister is venturing into one of the biggest life altering quest of her life. You sounded so decisive on the phone as you described how you came to this major decision and for that I'm proud of you. I'm excited yet a bit nervous too. You have my support all the way and I'm excited to see how skinny you get. I love you and I'll be praying for you. Smooches-Your Big Sis

My pre-op appointment is Tuesday the 10th and my surgery is the next Tuesday, the 17th. But I started the process back in August of 08. I'm starting to get nervous but I'm also excited! I hope you have an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery! Tuesday will be here before you know it!
Topic: RE: March 23rd!!!!
My surgery date is the 23rd with my final pre-op on Friday the 13th too. I was a little taken aback when she said the 13th, but not enough to object! Good luck to you on the 23rd.
Topic: banded March 6th and want to share a tip
I got my band on Friday and although Friday night and most of Saturday were rough, today I'm feeling quite well. I've got some port pain, but I'm surprised that's all I have that's hurting now.
The surgery went really well. They did have to change my pain meds in the recovery room because what they gave me wasn't working, but once they got that fixed, I was fine. I was in the hospital all of 8 hours and then went home.
Thanks to those who sent me well wishes. I really appreciate it.
I wanted to share a little tip with those who've not been banded yet. I read somewhere on here that a heating pad was a good idea. Well I didn't have one, but my Mom made me one and it was wonderful!!! I love it so much that I thought I'd share here for those who might need an inexpensive heating pad.
Supplies:
cheap wash rag ($0.88 at Wal-Mart)
corn (the kind you get in the animal feed section)
thread
needle or sewing machine
1. fold the wash rag in half and stitch the bottom and the side closed.
2. turn the rag inside out so that the 2 stitch lines are on the inside.
3. fill the rag (now a bag) half full with corn
4. stitch the open end closed
It's that simple! Now put it in the microwave for about a minute and then place on your sore muscle. (I had shoulder pain and needed it for that) When the corn is heated, it causes moisture to build up and so you've got a warm, moist bag to treat your soreness.
If you have any questions, just let me know.
Best of luck to those waiting to be banded!

Topic: RE: anyone have to lose weight before surgery?
Globirdie,
I have lost 76lbs, but those were lbs I've lost since 2005 when I was at my heaviest. I was at or a little over 400lbs back in 2005 when I decided to start losing weight. This past year though I had lost 35lbs. So he wanted me to lose a few lbs more just to help shrink the liver.
As it turned out, they called me to have my surgery date moved up almost a week so I ended up just having lost 6lbs as of my weigh-in at the doctor's office and then another 4lbs the day of surgery. So I lost 10lbs in about 2 1/2 weeks. He did the surgery anyway and I was fine. He said everything looked real good.
