Bob,

Sounds good! Back to work already?! Dang! I took my LOA from 3/16--5/16..I'm in NO rush to go back! It's an unpaid leave, but I have more then enough in savings to cover me....and it will be a niiiiiiiice vacation from the stress!!

I hear you with the itchy incisions! I've had 2 of my steri strips come off so far (the other 3 are working their way off....) I can feel the end of my stiches in the 2 that are off.....and i can be a bit clumsy at times...so I just put a loose bandage over them for now ....the one was the incision right above my belly button..and I'm alway****ting the darn thing off stuff...counter etc so..i figured i best just give it some cushion, so I don't bust the darn thing open!!

Best of luck to you!
And congrats on getting back into the swing of things!

Hi Everyone!  I had my RNY on March 4.  I've lost 18-20 lbs (depending on when I weigh during the day).

I'm on pureed and some solids.  I mostly eat a diet of: scrambled egg, cottage cheese, chicken salad (made with low fat dressing and salt/pepper only), yogurt (havent found one with low carbs so don't eat it much), refried beans, and cream potato soup ****asionally).  Plus 1 scoop (20 g protein) nasty whey mix first thing in the morning.

I tried a couple bites of 'guiltless grilled salmon' (from "Chili's") last night.  I was ILL when I got home.  Guess it was dumping syndrome.  Pain, threw up a little at one point, chills, etc.  I don't know if it was the butter (thought they wouldnt use much since it was on the low fat menu) or the spices or just the fi****self.  Wish I knew!    I was so excited to eat some "real" protein at a restaurant with my family.  Boy did I learn something!

Any suggestions on other foods would be most appreciated!  Also, how much protein are y'all getting in a day?  I am always weak!!  But I'm just taking it slowly and doing what I can.

Robin,

  Hey you're doing great!! :0)

I had my first scrambled egg this morning, and it  was delightful! Just one, and I was FULL!!  It seems soo odd that I can make a packet of instant cream of wheat, or sugar free oatmeal...and it's 2 meals for me, when pre-surgery I could eat 3 pkts at a time! hehehe.

I made foil packet fish the other night for hubby and me. I made him salmon, and tilapia for me. Turned out yummy! I ate mine a bit too fast....got overly full...and I thought it was the foamies coming up to visit and it was actually a  .  I don't believe it was dumping, i was fine afterwards...I had just ate it too fast. Dummy me! Ohh well, lesson learned! I'm still trying to learn the sounds/pains etc.  I had 2 bites of hubbys salmon..I tried to be mindful, because there are a few people who post op say it's "too heavy" for their pouchies.

Protein wise for me in a day is any where from 75g-90+  depending on what I can get in.  I just picked up a case of OhYeah! drinks (meal replacements) they have 35g a bottle. And I also got a few bottles of Isopure  20oz bottle with 40g of protein in it.  The isopure is wayy better then the rank protein bullets i had bought! eww!

Best of luck to you!!

Hi Kris,
I had my surgery on the 17th.  Woohoo for us!!!

How are you feeling?  I am feeling better and better everyday.  I hope you are too.  What is your post surg diet?  Mine is 4 weeks of boost  (one once per hour) and lots of water.

Take care,
Marykate

(sorry I'm soo late with getting back to you!!)

I'm doing great! My energy level is going up each day...which is great because I was really tired there for a while. My post op diet was, liquids for the first week....then to purees (for 3 weeks, however in that time I can add in foods).

I'm doing well with getting my protein and liquids in.....it's still hard to find room to want to eat along with everything else!

How are you making out? Good I hope!

Best of luck!
