March 3rd "Sleeve" - Anyone else develop bruises & pain?

Got home Thursday from my 3/3/09 VSG.  I'm excited and ready to embark on my new life!

Feeling much better by the day but there have been a few 'glitches' along the way ... My torso 'pain med' drip ball broke open Friday night and leaked all over the place! And when I went to pull the 2 cath leads out, I discovered they were stitched in place so I had to go to local walk-in med center to have them removed (didn't want to try it myself).
Also, I came home with  two golf-ball size bruises on my torso (one six inches to the right of my navel and another one 6 inches southwest of that one) and when I drink more than 4 Oz of anything cold (like Atkins protein drink) I get stabbing pain 5 minutes later 1-2 inches below the skin (underneath where the 2 bruises are.) It goes away in 4-5 minutes. I was also surprised to find I gained 18 lbs during surgery (fluids?) but lost it all back + 7 lbs more by today (Monday!) Other than that I have no nausea and my stamina is improving daily.

Anyone know what caused the bruises and why the pain is occurring??

I'm sure the bruseing is just from your surgery. It should go away in a few days. As for the pain not sure, I'm still pre-op. Best thing to do though if your worried would be to call your surgeon.

Hello!!!:)!!!

FYI I still have some bruising from my surgery, although yellow now bruising is normal. As far as your bruised area hurting when you drink, I would speak to your doctor. Some pain is normal, NOT stabbing pain for 5 minutes, I would suggest you inform your doctor.

UPDATE TO MY 3/9/09 POST (Bruises & Pain following VSG)

The pain began to gradually subside last night and is not as bad today. I spoke to my surgery center and they said it is normal and to not be concerned. (Things were 'rearranged' during the procedure and the bruises and pain will go away in time - just like ANY bruise.)
