banded March 6th and want to share a tip
I got my band on Friday and although Friday night and most of Saturday were rough, today I'm feeling quite well. I've got some port pain, but I'm surprised that's all I have that's hurting now.
The surgery went really well. They did have to change my pain meds in the recovery room because what they gave me wasn't working, but once they got that fixed, I was fine. I was in the hospital all of 8 hours and then went home.
Thanks to those who sent me well wishes. I really appreciate it.
I wanted to share a little tip with those who've not been banded yet. I read somewhere on here that a heating pad was a good idea. Well I didn't have one, but my Mom made me one and it was wonderful!!! I love it so much that I thought I'd share here for those who might need an inexpensive heating pad.
Supplies:
cheap wash rag ($0.88 at Wal-Mart)
corn (the kind you get in the animal feed section)
thread
needle or sewing machine
1. fold the wash rag in half and stitch the bottom and the side closed.
2. turn the rag inside out so that the 2 stitch lines are on the inside.
3. fill the rag (now a bag) half full with corn
4. stitch the open end closed
It's that simple! Now put it in the microwave for about a minute and then place on your sore muscle. (I had shoulder pain and needed it for that) When the corn is heated, it causes moisture to build up and so you've got a warm, moist bag to treat your soreness.
If you have any questions, just let me know.
Best of luck to those waiting to be banded!
