Hey birthday buddies!  I am having the roux en y bypass laproscopically.  Whew, that's a mouthful.  I am on a preop diet that was supposed to be Optifast, but I couldn't stand it.  I got some IsoPur from Vitamin Shoppe.  It has 40 grams of protein in it.  It is really good.  I just wonder if it's ok.  It has whey protein in it.  What do y'all think?  And yes, I'm nervous.

I know what you mean with the Opti fast it is the worst!   I am behind you guys buy one date mine is on the 10th and I was supposed to drink the shakes 5 times a day I basically have stopped drinking them I drink crystal light all day and I have a bowl of soup for lunch. I know its not the healthiest thing but I am getting the weight off that I was supposed to lose. I was supposed to lose 11 lbs preop and the last time I checked I was down 7 I will have probably lost even more because I am barely getting the calories in. How do you like the IsoPur if it tastes good I will go buy some any flavors you can recommend?

So good to hear from you.  The Isopur comes in tons of flavors. I love the Pineapple Orange banana and the grape, but there are so many kinds.  It's about $45 a case (12 20oz bottles) but it is worth it totally.  I am never hungry.  Really.  It doesn't have the vitamins and minerals so I'm taking those too.  I'm probably suposed to be doing that anyway.  I hope you have good luck.  Jody

I'm a 3/9-er also.  I was told to "try" to follow the Medi-fast for three weeks prior to surgery.  Today is day 13.  I am sick of shakes, but still have 8 days to go.  There's got to be something more than shakes.  I would love to have a hot bowl of soup.  I tried the Unjury chicken broth, but you can't use ho****er, only warm, so it wasn't that good.  Anyway, I am psyched to have the RNY and will do whatever it takes to make the surgery successful.  Good luck to all!

Hey Everybody,

This is my first post.  Yea for Me!  My surgery date is also 3-9-09.  I am nervous as to be expected.  On Friday, I received alittle disturbing news.  My pre-op EKG, by the way was my first one ever, was abnormal.  So now I have to see a Cardiologist before I can have my surgery.  But I am trying to remain upbeat.  I ask for your thoughts and prayers and I will keep you guys in my prayers as well.  By the way, I am having the VSG.  How do you add all the fancy stuff to your page?
