March 11th is my "new" birthday!!  Anyone else having surgery that day?  I have my upper GI next week, Jan. 28th, how bad is it?

Congrats on getting your date.  The upper GI is a breeze.  You will be under conscious sedation (meds given via an iv site) you won't remember a thing.  You'll probably go home and want to take a nap and just relax.

My Surgery is on March 10!  I had my upper GI early in November, unlike the other post I was wide awake for it.  They made me drink this chalky stuff and they had me on a funky bed that moved around.  It was not bad at all and I went to work right after.

YIpeee...the insurance approval came through today.   March 11 is now sealed in stone.

Crap....upper GI??   That hasnt been mentioned yet by my surgeon and she has already given me scripts for all my pre-surgical tests.      All I needed to get was some basic blood work, a chest xray and EKG.

Happy Re-birthdays to us!

Wow  My Doctor had me
1.  Blood work up the wazoo
2.  Chest X-Ray

3.  Upper GI
4.  Abdominal UltraSound
5.  Pelvic Ultrasound
6.  Lung Capacity Testing
7.  Stress Test/EKG
BEFORE I even got a date!

although he is known to be ultra conservative with the testing.

Hey!

I just wanted to say congrats on getting a date of March 11th. That's the date of my surgery, too!! I am really excited. What procedure are you having? I am having RNY.

My Dr. doesn't require an upper GI, so I am no help you there.

I just wanted to wish you luck!!!

I am having rny as well.  I originally wanted lap band until I studied it more.  I honestly didn't trust myself inorder for it to work.  The upper GI went really well!  They don't put you to sleep, so they say, but I don't remember anything at all!  I didn't even have a sore throat!  Good luck!  I'll keep watching for your success!!
