Topic: RE: recipes
I am not really sure where to find recipes, but I did go online and find a turkey stew recipe and made that for my husband and then pureed it for me. It really wasnt too bad and I was getting meat, potatoes, celery and carrots all in one meal. Other things my dietian suggested were baby food without chunks or noodles or rice(I found beechnut goodmoring meal of oatmeal, bananas and peaches to be quite tasty for breakfast and am actually still eating it for breakfast sometimes), campbells split pea soup with ham, puree and strain after heating (I found that tasty) Potato soup pureed and strained( I would also add canned chicken for more protein), soupy mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat and cream of rice all made a little soupy. Just be sure you are getting no chunks in anything. Luckily that phase only lasts one week. Hope this helps a little.

Topic: New Here...Please help me
I'll give you the short version: I've been struggling with my weight for 25 years (I will be 35 in October). I am in the process of getting with a psychologist to see why I feel the need to stuff myself for every emotion I feel...happy, sad, depressed, stressed, etc... I am tired of the fight. I am tired of the struggle. I am tired of the "you're beautiful the way you are" dribble from famliy, friends and my well meaning DH. I'm tired of my youngest DS (7) asking me when I'm going to have my baby...I'm NOT PREGNANT! I have little to non existant self esteem and I'd rather be dead than gain once more ounce...so there it is... I weighed was 165 in 7th grade and have gained steadily since then. I've tried every weight loss program known to man and have yet to be successful in keeping it off. I am now up to 215-220. I am barely 5' 5". My PCP says my BMI is within the range for surgery. She refered me to Dr. Omalley in Rochester and the gate-keeper who answered the phone basically told me that I am not heavy enough to qualify for surgery, yet another doc out of buffalo is more than willing to consult with me...he of course is out of area for my insurance. I am going to a seminar in Rochester for Dr. DiBenedetto on Thursday... Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, comments anything? Ifeel so defeated, lost and worn out from the fight and it hasn't even begun yet...

Topic: RE: What is the purpose of the 2 week diet????
It is perfectly normal to question everything. I was also on that 2 week diet and I think between my body wondering what the heck I am doing and the caffeine withdrawal, I got very whimpy and even called to cancel my surgery 5 days before my date. Luckily, the person on the other end gave me courage and reminded me how I had worked up to this point for a year and have shown my committment to stick with it. I am now 4 weeks post-op and although its definately been a challenge, I am glad I found the courage to go through with it. I am sure I would be kicking myself in the hiney right now wondering how much weight I would be down by now if I hadn't gone through with it. Currently I have lost 24 pounds and people are beginning to see the change. Be strong, pray, and remember how long you have been working for this. Good luck dear!

Topic: RE: JP Drain - Leakage at site
i had the same problem with my drain tube. It was just a clear liquid coming out of the hole making everything I wore wet, and dried crusty on my belly. However it did then become red around the site and painful. It was getting infected. It is good that you are having it removed tomorrow, you should be fine after that.

What an unkind doctor. I would find myself a new surgeon if I were you. It has taken me 6 years to find a good surgeon, PCP, and GI doctor. When we are complicated or different, it's hard to find good docs. But they are out there. God bless you, Sandy [email protected]

No matter how you are trying to lose, it is a tough road. I am surprised that with all of your health issues, that your Dr. won't work to help you. Even if your Dr. has a change of heart, you are already on the way to proving that this is important and worth your ever effort. Good Luck and keep on keeping on!

Relax, stress will only make you heal more slowly. Keep up the warm liquids and the quiet. crushed ice will also help take the swelling down...just let it melt in your mouth Also, if it is only larygitis, that shouldn't deter the surgeon. An infection might. curl up with a good book and a blanket and rest.
