Topic: I am HOME.....
I had a SHOWER last night...what a difference that makes...and Spider was a big help. Spider has been great between me there and Aviva...They came every day to see me...and had a private room with a great view (almost all the rooms are private). Now I have to slowly sip water and have 4 oz of protein shakes for each meal. I am off of Crestor and Medium and Bumex. I am to take 10 units of insulin before each shake and my lantus at night..I will take Prevacid soluble and still take my Metformin and Micardis but have to crush them and put in applesauce. Before surgery lost 17 1/2 lbs..gain some in the hospital from the IV and gas...but will lose that quickly. Going to walk as much as I can. Again thank you for all your prayers and positive thoughts...it really means a lot!

Topic: RE: 3rd day POST op BREAKDOWN!
I am sorry you are going through so much. It is normal not to have a BM. I have had diarhhea since Saturday due to what I drank for my upper GI. I am totally not hungry...did a 2 week liquid diet before. And certain smells make me nauseaus (sp). I had surgery on the 20th. I am allowed 4 oz of protein shakes at each meal...start today and they want between 30 and 60 oz of water..that is hard for me. Hugs, Dori

Topic: 3rd day POST op BREAKDOWN!
Ok I'm having my break down, figured I'd bring you along for thr ride. So, When I had my upper GI I was told to swallow that stuff SEVERAL times, I kinda got the feeling that at some point it wasnt going where it was supposed to go...why would they continuly have me drinking. Then the guy say's to me "well, Im not going to have you drink anymore, what Im seeing with you is not all that uncommon " If they need to know anything more they can have an abodiminal ultra sound down later...." Now mind you I was still VERY drugged, in and out of sleep at this point. But then I was taken into the step down unit so I didnt think to much further about it. Fast forward to now...My surgery was Wed. I havent yet had a Bowel Movement, is this normal>? I know some people that had to have one before they left the hospital? Ok... Now, I have heard so many thing's about how your pouch feel's following surgery. None of which is anything like mine and Im concerned. You see I went through the agony of being hungry for 5 day's prior to surgery knowing that following surgery I wouldnt be that hungry. With that small pouch, Id barely be hungry and it wouldnt take much to fill me up...NOT THE CASE WITH ME. I'M VERY HUNGRY!!!!! I have been eating a MEASURED 2 ounces of food every two and a half hours, water and any med's inbetween. I have YET TO GET FULL, and as a matter of fact Im really hungry. It's not in my head, my stomach is even growling. Now all of these thing's combined really concern me...I called up to ward 4 f since the clinic was closed today and they said they had nothing to offer me as far as answer's, basicly they were there to fill space on a holiday... Someone help Brandi~

I was denied approval because my nutritional therapy diet was not low calorie enough. Lucky enough I had joined Weigh****chers and could provide additional proof of my last attempt to lose weight. I did receive my approval. Good Luck

Well.. surgery went much better than expected. Recovery is well on it's way and I am feeling pretty good. No JP drain was needed, no stitches, overall a pretty good experience. Stage 2 liquids diet is going well, the only complain right now are gas pains other than that.. I wish the rest of you with up coming surgeries as wonderful experience as I have had. Take good care and I will report back later! Hugs and best wishes to all!!!! Marisol
