Topic: RE: Back from a wonderful gastric emptying study.......Yuck
Glad you are going to a psychiastrist. I think that would be very helpful. You sound very angry with your current situation. But why are you posting on the March 2008 board? I think the RNY board would be more your situation since you are seven years out.

I originally had the ban done on Dec. 17th but during the surgery they found a mass on my stomach. They sent it to the lab and found out it was a benign tumor called a GIST. So my doctor devised a plan were I would get the ban removed and get a vertical sleeve. It would take of the tumor ever growing back and the original reason for surgery, weight lose. Now that I am 5 days post-op from the vertical sleeve, I feel miserable. The gas bubbles, I can't even drink or eat without experiencing some painful gas. I find myself trying to make myself belch to relieve the gas. Walking, I have been walking so much that my husband is worried that I will pass out so soon after surgery. I have explained this, they told me walking will help, that remains to be seen. I can't even drink the recommend protein supplements that is required, I am almost at a point were I am afraid to eat or drink anything.
Does anyone have a solution? Is this all apart of the process? Could i take some gas relieving medicine?
Topic: RE: How soon can I get back to work after the surgery?
Hi,
I agree with Angela, I had my surgery on March 3rd that makes me almost 4 weeks post op.
The pain was much more than I expected and I had 1 week off from work, I went back to work very sore with no meds. Driving hurt also, it is a journey and one that can not be rushed. If you try to get back to work too soon or other activities is may slow down your healing process and your long term success.
Be patient, I know it is hard but make sure you have the time you need for yourself.

Congratulations! You've done it and you will be feeling sooooooooo much better each day. Just remember, the old adage...one day at a time, or one sip at a time. When I had it done, in the beginning, I bought those tommy tippy sippy cups (love it). Had different colors for whatever liquid I was drinking. Hey, it worked!!
Take care and looking forward to your progress.
Topic: Support Group in Charleston SC
I am finally scheduled for surgery and I am looking for a support group in Charleston, SC. I used to go to one that meet on Wed nights but they disbanded, I guess. Does any one know of one?
Topic: Home from RNY
I got home before noon Thursday had RNY Tuesday. Still a little sore but I am doing well. Dr LeBlanc asked that I do protein first so I am having trouble gettting everything in but he said not to worry he only wants me to drink 2 oz of protien at a time. I am walking well and I get to shower today YEAAAA I am not sick anymore just when I take my pills that are melted in water. I see the Doc on Wed next week. When I got back to my room after surgery I asked my hubby why would I do this to myself but by Wed. I was ok with it just that first day I doubted why I would do that. Looking forward to being a big loser. Have a great day. Hugs Bev

Girl, for me, it felt like I was going down the most highest, steepest, fastest roller coaster in the world. It took me a few mins. to get it together, just because of the weird feeling but, it is better than walking around with that thing hanging out of me forever. So glad it is over for us!!
