Is the GRADs board for people who have had the surgery already? I'm still pretty new to the site. I've never heard of a 5 day pouch test, do you have any more info on that? I tried to journal but really it ended up depressing me on how much I ate! I was doing so well and I thought my addictions had went away but I am starting to think they never do.
Topic: Just wanted to say HI!
I'm now settled in Indiana and didn't freeze this winter. I just wanted to say Hi to my friends, especially Queen Arlies ! I'm maintaining my weight and doing well. I lost e-mail addies when my computer crashed last time. So if you are out there Queen Arlies,
Biloxi Momma, Cactus racer please send me an e-mail. My e-mail address is the same.

Wow, can't believe it's been 2 weeks already. I've lost 22.5 lbs. so far. I was a size 28 shirt, but need to dig out some 26s.
It's been very hard. I've wanted to eat normal food since the first week. I have a little in the past week. I've had Wendy's Chili, Cottege Cheese, Baked potatoe, fruit, and scrambled eggs. Everything sitting in the pouch well. I see surgeon tomorrow for update.
I have this horrible awful pain near my left incision though. Surgeon said that he thought it was a muscle being pulled. I dunno. Wondering how I'll make it at work all day though.
I feel so weak though. I can't walk as long as I used to or stand as long as I used to. I run out of energy so fast. I'll address it with my surgeon tomorrow. I know I haven't gotten anywhere near the protein I need and I wonder if it's that.

I am pre-op - but have seen people who have had issues with weight gain before. One place for support you can check is the GRADs board. They discuss this topic a good bit and also there is a 5 day pouch test (5dpt) and that is supposed to help you regain control of the pouch tool. Maybe you just need to go back to journaling your food and measuring for awile. - I hope this helps. Heidi

I am over 2 years out, had my Distal in June '05.. I lost over 200 pounds, recently, within the last probably 5 months, I have gained 20 pounds and I am beyond devastated. I feel fat, feel like now I can never lose it again and I am having a VERY hard time. I've gotten so depressed I wake up crying, cry throughout the day and then cry myself to sleep at night. I've been put on meds after going to the er because my dad didn't know what to do, and I still don't. I need to talk to someone, I know that, but I didn't really know where to go. I live in Wildomar now, had the surgery in Federal Way, WA, but I don't know of any support groups here. Can anyone help me? I am open to e-mails whatever.. I just really need someone. My e-mail is caxbecca (at) yahoo.com. I am also a good listener.

I also teach and due to coaching, etc. took two weeks.
I had a great sub who is a retired teacher who taught my subject and I had the benefit of having a student teacher in my classroom.
I worried about nothing.
I took 2 weeks, including Easter Break. surgery was 3/6 and I returned 3/25.
I have not had any problems and feel great after being back for a week.
I was pretty much done come Friday, but I also coach and was at a competition until 8pm Friday.
I had Lap RYN and they removed my gallbladder. No other complications.
Open surgery will require you to take more time to heal.
I hope your surgery goes as well as mine did!!!

So sorry to hear you are having a rough time, Tracey. I am having the Lap Band done tomorrow so I don't have any experience with this but I remember reading in my materials that with the Lap Band you can take something like Gas X but I'm not sure about the sleeve. Sure hope you start feeling better soon!!

}{i I am doing good still a little sore and have some gas and nausea(sp) but have nmeds for that. I am having trouble eating, doing protein and getting in enough water but I keep working at it. We stay on liquids for 10days then we attempt to add cottage cheese and egg whites. I am just kind of overwhelmed. My surgeron says do protein first so that is what I am trying to do. I have added more water each day. Hope things are going well for you. Good Luck and itsn't it great to be a looser. Hugs Bev
