Topic: RE: 3/17 surgery people.... 2 weeks is tomorrow.........
I there. Sorry about the late reply, but I had vsg surgery on 3/17 too. And, I am having the same left-side pain. To explain better, it's been a rough ride for me. It started out okay until about 3 days post op. They switched my pain med from what was given me in the hospital and I was in tears for nearly2 weeks straight. I went to emergency once and back to the doctor twice. He finally put me back on the original paid med and today I am doing far better except for the pain/discomfort in my upper left side. And, too, my energy level has decreased quite a bit. I'm praying as days go by I will continue to improve. I also wish you the very best in continued recovery.

Topic: Exercising like I wish
Hey everyone, I am celebrating my second week after the surgery and I feel like it never even happened. Well, except for the diet and the increasingly loose clothes. I used to do weight lifting a few years ago and I really love it. I got to a point in which I could benchpress 220 pounds and legpress around 430. I am wondering how long I'll have to wait to be able to get back to doing free weights. I am pumped for doing some cardio and have been running for about 5 days. Please let me know when it's recommendable to start on pushing myself a little more.

Topic: RE: What does "FULL" feel like to you?
I'm still struggling with the notion of "full". Like you, my eyes say "heeeeey, this is so little and there's some left" but my body says "pleeeeeease don't eat anymore." It seems to be a heaviness in the chest and stomach .. and more, if I start to feel like I need to burp, I've learned that that is a sign the pouchie has had enough. After a month, I'm practicing putting down my spoon for a full minute between bites and after each ounce, I actually push the bowl or plate away and see what I think. 9 times out of 10, I don't want any more. This is a huge learning process between body and mind. Sometimes I think I am just losing my mind! hehe. Janice

Topic: RE: What are you having at 2-3 weeks out??
Hi honey... you are not alone... go to the RNY forum and on the second page I posted the exact same question and got like 10 responses.. it helped. It basically came down to having something to keep in your pocket at all time... they make suggestions as to what has worked for them individually. They also told me that it was only temporary until you get introduced to more foods... that was comforting too. Good luck and I hope the posting helps you.. I know it did me! Take care.. follow stinky breath! Marisol

My problem is that when I stop eating before my 2oz of food because I feel full, I am hungry 1-2 hours later. I do work out every day, but I feel guilty when I eat a snack. I have found that when I need just a little more, I eat some SF Jell-O. Even though it is flavored water, it feels me up really quick.

I am able to eat anything but red meat, fresh fruit, potatos, corn, and protein shakes. I have not had a problem with anything. I totally know what you mean about pickles!!! I do have my favorite now! Laughing Cow Light Garlic and Herb cheese spread on a deli slice of turkey. It is heaven! It would also be REALLY good with a pickle in the middle!

I also had surgery on 3/17! I am down 25 lbs, but I have not lost in 6 days. At my two week check up my doc said I had nothing to worry about. I am not always the most patient person, but I am learning to be. Doctors are all different! My doc will not let us drink our calories. With no protein shakes, it is hard to get enough protein in. So I ordered a case of Proteinex. I am going to try it.

Only when I eat dairy and don't follow it with water. So far so good with the eating now. Depending less on my tube. Am getting a full feeling at the top of my stomach. Almost like the food I eat is still in the esophagus waiting to go down into my pouch. Makes for some uncomfortable heartburn like symptoms. After a few minutes they go away.
