Topic: What's everyone eating at 6 weeks post-op
Hello everyone,
I will be 6 weeks post-op on Monday and I am wondering what everyone is eating. I know every doctor is different and I think it's interesting to see what everyone can eat. As for me, I am on a strictly protein diet. I can eat 1.5 - 3 oz. of protein 3 times a day. At two months I can add 1 veggie and then at 3 months I can add a fruit.

Man, exercise rules. I had my RnY on the 14th and I am already hitting the gym daily. The weight loss generates some extra energy and gym gets every day a little easier. You go for the third daily mile!

I had to do the clear liquids for two weeks before surgery. It was hard but I did loose. My starting weight was 323lbs, the day of surgery I was 309lbs. Now am down to 285. I am loosing slow because don't think that I am getting enough protein so I had to do some adjusting. I was drinking protein shakes, at first I was doing the 100 % whey protein from GNC but didn't like it. I did it for a week my last week on it I found a shake called Lean Body by Labrada and loved it. I was also doing Wonton Soup I only drank the broth, I did Wylers chicken Broth, and Chicken Boullin cubes...... Hope this help you.

Well let me tell you... I feel your pain. And I'll tell you what it is for me... Not being able to turn to (my old best friend) "food" for comfort, subconciously that made me deal with things alot better. Now I have found myself trying to do different things that bring me the same amount of satisfaction...NOT EASY... STILL TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT. It makes you angry at least it did me! Happy about the results but angry that you cant eat what you want and have to have something that you dont. It was a lifetime struggle for me and with my emotional rollercoaster of a life... I missed my BF (food) and that pissed me off. Watching everyone eat what made them feel good.... But it will get better... so they tell me Hang in there!

Topic: RE: Time..Find surgeon to actual Lapband surgery?
Wow, you guys are lucky!! Here, in Canada, the wait time is so long!! For so very many of the dr's that do the surgery, you have to wait YEARS for the initial consult!! I was very, very lucky to find one that I only had to wait a couple months for. (appt this Friday, the 25th!!!)
By the time that I actually have the surgery, it might even be 2009 or 10!!! I am praying for a speedy process as I have been waiting thru different doctors for years!! Something always seems to happen and I was denied "out of country" approval to have it done in the states (as your waiting times are SO MUCH SHORTER!). I guess that I just didn't meet the criteria!
Good luck to you, and remember, it could be worse, you could be in Canada and have to wait over a year!!

I had my surgery on March 25, 2008
hey there, I've done the chew and spit myself, thought I was the only one whose had the surgery that did that!!
I've been able to eat fish, chicken, potatoes, and eggs!! Only tiny amounts though.
I keep forgetting to eat. I've lost about 30lbs now! I havent had any dumping at all! Hard to get the protein in.
Are your clothes falling off like mine are?
I went back to work after only a week but I feel good!! Since I cant seem to remember to eat. I make sure I take my vitamins, calcium, b-12shot, tums and baby aspirin.
Take care and much luck

Hi! My surgery date was 3/11/08 & I'm due for my 6 week follow up. I'll be graduating to regular food!! Yipppee! Haven't tried chewing and spitting, but.....I've had a few days of soft food so the urgency is not there. My first taste of scrambled egg tasted like heaven, so I know where you are at. I was soooo sick of liquids & pureed food. Just have to work on chewing, chewing, chewing. Must slow the eating process way down. Seems that everything I'm eating is cold before I can eat half of it. Oh well. Congrats on your 1 month. Charmaine
