Here is a youtube message on how one successful WLS patient does it. If you like coffee, it is the best. It tastes like a Starbucks frappuccino. Mind you, the caffeine in this is OK before surgery, but you won't be able to use the hazelnut stuff post surgery for a month or so. I love the EAS 100% Whey Vanilla protein. Even plain with just milk it tastes great. But pre-op on my liquid diet, I combined it with bananas, strawberry yogurt (lite), etc. Be creative. Good luck! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWhdd38TKuo

Doc passed me for a hyperproteic diet of 800KCal day. This means I am masticating already. I am having meat, fish, potatoes, rice, veggies (except the ones that make you gassy), milk, and fruits. This does look like a little accelerated, but so far I am doing great with it and I am happy to have food I can chew. I have a nutritionist who happens to be a wonderful cook, so I have a few pretty amazing recipes from her. Including one for a substitute of mayo that is pretty approximate to the real thing but that doesn't carry eggs in it.

Topic: Protein Shakes
I am 4 weeks out this Mon., 04/28/08. I was told to get my protein in first and, of course, the only way to get the alloted amount of 60-70 grams a day is to do the protein shakes. I hate them! Is there anyone out there who has found a way of getting in enough protein or is there a protein shake/supplement that is actaully decent tasting? I worry about not getting enough and eventaully losing my hair but I can't make myself drink those things. MrsFlo7
