Topic: RE: HAPPY 1 MONTH POST OP
I'm one month today (lap band) I was still in the puree stage too, until today I had a half of chicken cutlet diced up in tiny pieces---I put it on my mashed potatoe and melted some shredded cheese. I chewed and chewed untill I was tired. I was afraid to eat the cheese did not want it to get stuck......but the chicken tasted good. I try to get in one protein shake in the morning usually for a snack before lunch............I have been spitting tooo, my kids think its gross, but I too am afraid of what I put in my mouth. I lost about 25-28 lbs so far....jeans feel loose......shirts feel bigger. I was very dizzy too but that seems to have went away now. Wonder what that is from???????? are you a lap bander or a gastric patient ??? There are so many similarities. I need more protein too. any suggestions ???

As long as it is pureed, I can have it.
Starches: potaoes, crackers, rice, no pasta.
meat: all but seafood (shrimp, crab, etc.)
Veggies: not raw and no skins, like corn
Fruits: same as veggies
That means that I either eat baby food, (which I do for fruits and some veggies) I chew it to death, or I put it in the food processor.
I meet witht he NUT next Thurday and hope to be cleared for a salad.
I have not had any problems eating in or out and I also teach school, so it is not always easy to eat well during the day.
I just finished an EAS low carb protein shake.
Every Dr. and NUT is different, as I am to eat 1 oz. of each protein, starch and fruit or veggie per meal.

My secret is three-fold
In the morning, to kick-start my reluctant tum-tum, I make a hot-cocoa protein drink:
Warm up a coffee cup of water in the microwave for 30 seconds. Add a packet of NSA hot cocoa and a scoop of chocolate protein powder. I use the cheap-oh chocolate protein powder you can get at WalMart. After I mix those in I nuke it for 20 more seconds (not too long or the protein cooks and it tastes nasty). I sip that in the morning and it's great.
Second is PROPEL. I love their bottles. I try to drink one 24 ounce bottle per day. I save the bottle, rinse it out, and allow it to dry.
Third is to use the propel bottle to make and drink my protein shake. I take one or one and a half scoops of Nectar Syntrax protein powder. Usually it is Fuzzy Navel, or Natural Orange, or Natural Peach. I also add my calcium powder, UpCalD to it, as it doesn't ruin the flavor, and makes taking calcium very easy. Then I take a complementary flavor of crystal light, and I add that to the bottles. When I'm ready to drink it, I add water (approximately 22 oz) and shake shake shake. Then I drink the protein shake from the propel bottle, which has a great feature: a wonderful lid that keeps the terrible, awful, yucky SMELL of the protein powder INSIDE the bottle and only lets out the flavor!
My breakfast cocoa and my propel-bottle-shake are 60 grams of protein when I make the propel-shake a scoop and a half.
Hope this helps. For me I do the protein drinks because I don't want to lose my hair and this is the only thing I have control over. I don't have control over other things.

It's totally normal.
I lost 25 lbs in the first 2 1/2 weeks.
I loze ZERO lbs in the next three weeks.
I've lost 3 lbs in the last four days.
Total of 28 lbs lost in 6 weeks.
Since you really can't change that you've had surgery, I'd say enjoy your new lifestyle, accept that weight loss is not a steady loss, and step off the scale. You'll be happier if you only weigh once a week or once every two weeks.
Most people lose in three or four week cycles. Lose for a week, don't lose for two or three, and then lose for a week, followed by another stall. It's all about the way the body processes fat and uses it for energy.

Today is my 6 week surgiversary. I'm still on "mushies" but mushies according to my surgeon's plan are pretty loosely defined.
My food today:
Pre-breakfast I had NSA hot cocoa and a scoop of chocolate protein powder.
Breakfast I had my multivitamins and a protein bar
After Breakfast I had a protein shake with UpCalD
Lunch - Some granola treats that are 90 cals. (yum)
After Lunch - 24 oz propel.
Early Dinner - 3 oz ground chicken taco seasoned cooked meat with black olives and cheese on top. Multivitamins also.
After early dinner - 24 oz beverage with UpCalD
Late Dinner - 2 oz seafood salad and 1 oz potato salad, and 1 mini dill pickle
I'm a school teacher and don't like to push my "food limit" while at school. I've found that keeping my breakfast light, my lunch lighter, and having a meal when I get home from school, and one more meal later in the evening, I feel like I'm getting my food, liquids, protein, vitamins, appropriate calories, etc. all in.

Unjury makes a good chocolate shake and it's all I can drink although I haven't tried too many varieties. You can only buy them online but they come very quickly! www.unjury.com

39 pounds in 7 weeks..AWESOME! I have found with my research the more weight you have to lose the faster you lose, at first, then it evens out. A 39 pounds weight loss is more then a 5 pound a week average weight loss....I can't remember anytime in my prior yo-yo diet life of this ever happening. Keep up the good work! I had to have a revision (see profile) and the weight loss for me is SLOW......8 weeks Thursday and a weight loss of 20 pounds, I'm thrilled! I have to remind my self of the journey.....I know I will get to my destination. I have started using a tape measure and I can't believe the inches coming off! I will support any and everyone who would like me too, I started wearing a size 28/30, today this 46 years old woman is in a size 14/16! I will be at goal in the very near future, so if it can work for me it will work for you.... Katrina
